@californiadreams: @SunnyFarmMama: They were 30-32ish days, if I recall correctly? Depended on when I Oed. I was on progesterone for a number of cycles and then when to the RE, which is why I can't remember exactly? I don't think the shorter LP is a huge concern, provided your progesterone levels are good, you're not spotting (I was), etc. HB is really good at deciphering OPKs though ;)

@LindsayInNY: how many days are your cycles on average? Mine are 28 to 30 days usually so I am wondering if it is normal/possible to have a positive OPK on days 18 to 20 and still have a 30 day cycle? So basically there would be less than a two week wait if this is the case. I am currently on day 18, tested before noon and still a negative OPK.

Looking at this graph, you can see that it shouldn't really be a gradual thing. You may see it darken over maybe a 2 day period, but it shouldn't be a several day lead up. Also remember that you ovulate 12-36 hours AFTER you get a positive OPK since it detects the hormones that cause ovulation, and not ovulation itself.

@californiadreams: It varies by person. I usually got a +OPK around CD18-20, I was on the later side.

@SunnyFarmMama: I'm on CD17 today and OPKs are still negative. I tested twice today and now lost hope for this cycle. Maybe I missed it earlier though. Next month I'm going to temp and test twice a day and hopefully get better results

@californiadreams: I started using OPKs this month and Monday was my CD14 and I didn't get my positive OPK until CD17. I had ovulation pains about 24 hours later. I got positives for 48 hours, testing 2-3 times a day from CD15 to CD18. I don't temp so I can't help there. FX for both of us :)

@californiadreams: oh no! I'm afraid to test at work, we have a very small office and no where to hide to check the test, I'm pretty sure if I even brought one in the building, the entire staff would know immediately!

@californiadreams: typically day 13, I'm very regular, but occasionally a little later. Once not till day 18, but that just ended up being a very long (for me) cycle of about 32 days. Today is day 13, and this morning was still negative, so we will see. I'm testing again before I go to bed.

Mine didn't fade in or out either. It would just go bam dark overnight! I wasn't super strict on when I tested either.

@SleepyMonkey: good to know, maybe i will start testing twice a day next month (unless I get a BFP - there is still hope even if i missed it, we can still try!).

@2farmmoms: good to know as well. I guess I will see what happens!

Mine never were gradual. They were light one day and dark the next, and they didn't fade out gradually either. So I tested 2x a day to make sure I didn't miss it. And it didn't matter about how long I waited to pee either.

@californiadreams: I usually test in the morning and the afternoon, especially as I get close to when I'm expecting a positive. Mine get darker each day usually and then I get 1-3 days of positives. I usually O 24-36 hours after the first positive, based on what I can tell from temping, although my temps tend to vary a lot (open mouth breathing, frequent insomnia). Planning on trying vaginal temping next month if I don't get a BFP this time around. Not sure if my experience with OPKs is typical, but it's been fairly consistent over the 9 months I've been testing (started OPKs six months before TTC, as I have to do AI and I wanted to have the timing down before I even tried.

This is my first month using OPKs, cycle 2 of TTC. I am on CD15 and still a very faint line on my OPK. Is it supposed to get darker as I get closer to a positive? Or can it be super light every day and then all of sudden be a full on positive? I haven't charted ever before so I don't know what is normal for me, but I would have thought based on my typical cycle length (28-30 days) that I would have gotten a positve by today or at least closer to a positive.

I am also wondering if how I have been using the OPKs make a difference? I don't usually wait 4 hours from the last time I peed, it has been more like 3 hours and I test around 3:30-4pm.

any advice or tips on what's normal would be much appreciated!
