I have an interview for a great next step in my career but have heard the demands may be really taxing.

Left a big corporate company for a small private one (more b/c of location really...) I guess the outcome is still TBD since I've only been here for a almost 3 years.

I quit my job for a year to be a SAHM. I thought it would be super easy to find a new position once I was ready, but it actually took more effort than I thought it would.

I left my career as an attorney to be a SAHM. I know I basically committed career suicide but (1) I wanted to be home with my daughter so badly, nothing would have disuadded me, and (2) I hated being a lawyer so if I can never practice again, I prob won't shed any tears.

That said, i do hope to go back to work one day - just not sure yet *what* I wanna do ...

I moved to the US without knowing if my teaching credential would transfer here or whether anyone would hire someone with no US teaching experience or training.

It worked out. I'm in an awesome school teaching elementary math, which is what I'd wanted. My principal isn't American either.

I was working in the water and wastewater industry and I hated it - after 5 years I quit w/o having another job.
I was terrified but I knew I needed a change!

I ended up moving back home with my mom for 3 months until I found a job and an apartment - through that job I met someone who was retiring and they asked me if I wanted their job - luckiest day of my life!

Here I am in that same job 13 years later!

Sooo glad I took the risk rather than stay in that job I hated

I quit my job 4.75 years ago because my job was my life and it wasn't healthy for me. I knew I wanted to get married and have a family and not work in a toxic environment long term.
I started to go back to school but got another job in the industry pretty quickly that gave me the work life balance I needed plus a higher salary than what I earned before. I was able to find time to date, met my now husband, start a family, and enjoy the work environment I am in.

Left my first nursing job in the ER (which I loooooooved), uprooted my family, and my husband became a SAHD so that I could join the military. 4 years in, and I am pleased to have had this experience, but am thinking about heading closer to home (as a civilian) and going back to school for my Doctorate and either teaching nursing school or becoming an NP.

I switched from the retail portion of our company to the corporate life, took a hefty pay cut BUT got such a better quality of life and now I am making more than I was before so finances are back on track. I would say it was definitely worth it although I did incur some debt that could have been avoided. Now the debt I paid off though, so I guess in the end it all worked out

First, I never use my degree and instead got a restaurant job so I could go to photo school. Then I quit my day job to do photography full time. I sometimes wonder, what if when I look at former classmates and see them working at top 10 companies but also recognize that I would have never married DH or have my kids and my schedule would be crazy. And I absolutely love what I do and the chance it gives me to be with my girls and work at my passion at the same time.

I went back to school to get my teaching degree while working full-time in a different field. And I had to quit that job to student teach...for no salary for three months and no job guarantee once student teaching was over. And this was awhile back when there was an influx of teaching candidates. Luckily, I was hired at the district I student taught at and love what I do far more than what I did before!

I left my job to be a SAHM/full-time student. I'm still in the middle of completing my degree and things are tight, but I have no doubt that it will be worth it. As much as I loved my old co-workers (and turning down the promotion they offered when I quit was hard!) the schedule gave us little to no family time and I didn't want to stay in retail for the long-term, even in a higher up position.

I left a job I loved at a newspaper I loved to travel the world. Worked out great as when I returned they gave me a features job that I loved even more without even advertising it or considering anyone else. I left that job to move overseas, careerwise that didn't pan out great. Now a SAHM and will see how my career resumes when we return to the UK next month. My old newspaper has downsized significantly so there won't be any "third" chances there

I was accepted to the #2 law school (that year) in the country and turned it down to go to the law school in the city I already lived in (best in the state but not a top 10 school). By traditional standards it probably did not work out because if I had gone there I probably would have gotten a better job/be making a lot of money right now. But also I would have HAD to be in a job making tons of money because my (already outrageous) student loans would've been doubled there. I'm glad that I'm in a position now that I can afford to make less (and work less) and also, of course, if I'd moved for that school I wouldn't have met my husband or had my daughter!

I'm working a second job right now (working PT at my other job, which means a huge financial cut) on the hopes I get into the *one* PA program I apply to this summer. I almost quit my job for it, but working two part time jobs is more financially sound. I'll have no salary for 27 months, make more or less a lateral pay move, and take on 85K in loans

I had three job offers on the table: keep my current job with salary match and rewriting my responsibilities to suit my interests, going to a company where I was certain I would quickly climb the corporate ladder, and a company in a new industry close (12 minutes!) to home with only a tiny raise. I took the new industry and I'm loving it.
