The anesthesiologist, on hand for the forceps delivery, had to load me up with heavy duty painkillers. I didn't even want to hold the baby because I was shaking so violently I thought I would drop her.</p> <p>Once the meds kicked in, I was simply speechless. They were, "Why isn't he crying?" about 50 times over. I ended up with an emergency C-section and he also had meconium in his lungs, and he had a fever because I had one going into the OR. Those were by far the scariest minutes of my life. </p> <p>Once they did get him breathing and cleaned up, they needed to take him to the NICU due to his fever. They brought him over to me for about 10 seconds where my true first words to him were.
