I had a C section and my husband brought her over and I kissed her, and oh, she was just the softest thing I had ever felt in my life! Then I am pretty sure I said, "I love you." But I spent most of the time talking about how perfect she was. I was loopy on drugs and my mom said I kept going, "How did that happen? She's perfect! How did that happen??" Had an unplanned c section and was pretty loopy (they gave me a sedative). The only things I remember after his birth was when they held him near my head I remember straining to kiss him, turning to my husband and saying "he looks just like you" and then saying "I'm going to throw up". I remember she stopped crying, reached up and felt my face with her little hand and it was the sweetest thing in the world. I remember trying to focus on what was going on but by then there were so many people in the room, I just yelled at DH to go with him and leave me there. I do remember seeing him for the first time while he was on oxygen and getting to hold him. They were playing Christmas carols because it was almost Christmas, so I was singing along to him. The actual moment of her birth was so incredibly powerful for me. The moments leading up and the moments afterward were all kind of fuzzy and confusing, but the moment she was born will forever be etched in my mind as clear as day. The labor was blurry because I was on a special IV drip for my blood pressure that makes you woozy and afterward I hemorrhaged so I felt generally "out of it" for a lot of labor and postpartum. Anyway, when she was born, LO came out extremely pissed off and screaming so I said "Oh, it is okay!" and I tried to comfort her so she wouldn't be upset anymore. What was the first words you spoke to your LO(s)?
