My husband said he was jittery and still felt caffeinated at 10pm. This morning he asked when his sludge was going to be ready. It hurts so badly! These stories are cracking me up. :) Glad I'm not the only one who sometimes slips up in the kitchen. @HLK208: I didn't even think about you guys getting hit by the storm before we did!! It was awful here but we live in a flat, open area so no damages here. But my parents lost 4 huge bullpine trees in their yard, narrowly missing their home. Shingles blew off their roof. Our friends have a marble gazebo and it is literally in pieces all over their yard. I washed my hands and went upstairs to put my contacts in. Apparently I didn't wash them well enough because I am currently blind in my right eye. Ow. I thought it was a good comfort food for a stormy day. Well, the lights flickered constantly while it cooked. Everyone else lost power so I for sure thought my roast would be ruined. He had a meltdown about the bath, it was a family crisis, and I totally forgot them and let them cook for about twice as long as they needed. Luckily it was the second batch for a potluck that turned out to be smaller than I thought so I didn't need them but I was annoyed at the waste of ingredients and work. The recipe said to cook the beef in just the ale but I was worried it wouldn't taste meaty enough so I added a stock-pot. Then another. I tried out two recipes at the same time and they did not mix well. I made Dirty Rice and roasted chicken dish made with capers, lemon, and rosemary. The chicken was so tart it made the rice taste bland. Thankfully I use salted butter, and they had a glaze that I was able to add a little extra st to. I could still tell the difference, but no one else could. It was cancelled about an hour before we were supposed to get together when a big storm blew in with unsafe conditions. I was disappointed until I realized I had cooked the turkey with the bag of giblets. :shocked: Gross! I had removed the neck and searched high and low for the giblets but they were stuck awkwardly under the skin in the front. Thankfully the turkey is still good to eat but I am soooo glad dinner with friends was cancelled because that would've been slightly embarrassing. :silly: What's the last kitchen screw up you had??
