Oh no...poor Charlie. :( Sounds like a stomach virus and, yeah, his ped. is right in that it'll pass. It's just tough seeing him go through it. I would feed him plain/toasted bread with Pedialyte. You can dilute the Pedialyte a little with water if you find that it's too concentrated. They sell Pedialyte popsicles as well but I haven't seen them yet. Very bland diet until his stomach is more settled. Even plain congee will help too since it has both carbs (keeps him full) and water. Plus, it'll give him some variety in terms of food. I believe milk will just irritate his stomach. It's okay if he doesn't drink as much for now. You could always check with his ped. to see what kinds of food he can eat and what to avoid. Hope the poor little guy feels better soon. Hang in there!

@mrbee: Sure! I give my LO the B.R.A.T. diet when she is vomiting.

B- bananas
R -rice (you can make rice porridge for more liquids)
A-apple sauce (I guess because that is more liquid)
T-toast

They generally recommend this for diarrhea but I think it helps with vomiting, too, because it's just a very bland diet.

And I give her Pedialyte instead of milk. You could make them into popsicles, too, if Charlie doesn't want to drink it. And lots of water. The doctor always tells me it doesn't matter if they don't eat very much for a few days as long as they have water and Pedialyte. I don't think juice is good, though, because too much sugar can dehydrate.

Poor Charlie (and the rest of the Bee clan)!

During the day, the longest LO has gone without a feeding is 5 hours. And she was grumpy one!

Lo hasn't been sick yet (knock on wood!) The longest she goes without eating is the 12 hours that she's sleeping.

Hope Charlie feels better! And yay for him still being in a good mood, it's awful to see your baby being miserable!

If Charlie is throwing up a lot, should he be drinking milk? When my LO has thrown up, I don't give her milk until she stops vomiting for a day or so. But I'm not sure what Charlie has and I'm sure you've talked to the doc.

I just hope he feels better really soon!

Oh no poor Charlie! Our son is just starting to get better from a really bad cold. He was throwing up a lot too. But luckily that was happening mostly during the day. Are you giving him cow's milk? We switch him to rice milk when he's sick because they say cow's milk irritates your stomach? Actually I don't recall the reason and it might only apply when the person has a cough. Hope he feels better soon. It is so hard when they are ill.

But to answer your question, he went through several days without eatin much and throwing up on top of that. I just let him eat whatever he wanted at that point.

Charlie's been sick and hasn't really eaten much in the past two days. Well actually, he's eaten a decent amount - he just keeps throwing it up. He's drank a lot of milk, but has thrown up a lot of that too.

He was coughing in his crib just now; I suspected he would throw up so I went and got him, and sure enough he threw up twice shortly after (I'm a pro by now, so the vomit didn't get on his clothes or me - if I were playing a video game, I would've leveled up).

We're making sure that he is well hydrated, and weighing him regularly too. He also seems to do ok with drinking milk during the day (he throws up mostly at night), so we've been making sure he gets plenty of that. We also have some Pediasure, so we'll keep trying to get him to take more of that. We took him to the doctor last week, but the doctor just said that he had a virus and would be over it soon. :-(

Bee mentioned that maybe he is teething and has some baby molar action going on. I hope it's something like that. The weird thing is that throughout all of this, Charlie has been in a great mood! Still, I worry about our little Charlie bear. If he doesn't start holding down food, we're going to take him back to the doctor.

What's the longest your LO has gone without eating (or being able to hold down food)?
