So far, only 2 hours once. She's 5 months. I've had trouble getting DD to drink from a bottle.

@sungirl: This will not be the end of nursing unless you want it to be. Yes, there will be logistics to figure out (bottles, pumping, and traveling with milk), but there are lots of working moms that do this and so can you!

I've had two 3 day/2 night business trips while EBFing LO2. When she was 7 and 9 months. We had zero issues. I left as much fresh milk as possible, but I also had a nice freezer stash, so bottles weren't an issue. I pumped into bags, put the milk bags in ziplock bags, and put the ziplock bags in a soft cooler and carried that on the plane.

I printed out the TSA breastmilk regulations, but I had really nice agents that didn't want to check any further. It was a breeze.

Thanks for all the replies. You make me feel better my husband said this would probably be the end of nursing and I was hoping it wouldn't. I weaned DS1 at 9 months and was never away more than 1 night. so I didn't really have prior experience. Now just to figure out the logistics of pumping and carrying that much milk back on an airplane.

@espion - That's rough! It WILL be ok though! If you two are like me and my LO then baby will be just fine and not miss a beat. You might want to pack some kleenex and extra nursing pads though. Hang in there! It will be ok!

When LO was 7 months old I had to take a week-long work trip. My mom actually came with me and I was able to continue nursing LO while I traveled. After that, I took another week-long work trip when LO was 20 months old. We were still nursing twice a day at that point and I pumped while I was away. No difficulties resuming when I got back!

Six hours or so. My boobs nearly exploded.

We won a 7-day cruise to take this July, when LO will be 10 months old. I've asked the cruise company if we can bring him along, but so far they haven't gotten back to me. I don't know what I'd do as far as BF goes if we went without him (or if we would be too upset to leave him). Presumably he'll be drinking less then than he is now so maybe I wouldn't have to spend weeks pumping beforehand or spend the entire trip pumping.

With DD who is six months old I've only ever been away from her for about 2 hours because she refuses to take a bottle.

I was away from DS for 6-7 hours back when he was EBF. (He went to formula exclusively at 7 months.)

3 nights when he was 8 months old. I pumped every 4 or 5 hours on our trip, and had more than enough freezer stash built up. D did not self-wean, but he was also in daycare 10 hours a day, so was used to getting bottles for the majority of his meals by then.

I had several business trips -- 3 days/2 nights at 4 months old, 4 days/4 nights at 8 months, 4 days/3 nights at 9 months, and 5 days/4 nights at 12 months. I left as much freshly pumped milk as I could and she got frozen the rest of the time. Pumping while away sucked, but DD definitely didn't self-wean...she's a total boobmonster, though.

3.5 days for LO 1 when she was 2.5 months old. I left pumped milk (fresh and frozen) with my mom and I pumped while I was gone. We resumed nursing with no issues.

I think two days/one night was the longest I went when I had a full supply. LO wasn't the issue though, he was fine. ME on the other hand! I wasn't able to get away to pump as much as I should have (it was never super effective for me anyways) so I was engorged to the point I was pumping while driving (without a hands free bra!) That was also my first trip away from him so that might have made things a little more difficult than they needed to be.

I have at work trip in April when DS is 10 months. I will be away for 4 nights. Anyone been away that long? So far I have freezer stash to cover but I'm worried he may self wean being away that long at that age. Any experiences to share.
