In my Jr year of high school I went on an outward bound backpacking trip that lasted 21 days. We took dips in the river when we could, but it was freezing (maine) and there was no soap. So when we got back I showered about 3 times in 18 hours. I really stunk. It was amazing to wash my hair. I did swim in the ocean during that time, but I'm not sure if that made me cleaner or not...my ponytail was like one big dreadlock from the salt! Just grass or plants or bugs or whatever we could find. When we all got out of the field some people went straight to get food after not eating for days, I however went and took the longest shower and washed my hair about 3 times! I had IPL (basically light treatment to get rid of freckles, discoloration) on my face when I was visiting Korea, and you're supposed to avoid hot steam to keep the scabs on your face for as long as possible for best results. You just spray it all through your roots and rub until the powder disappears. We hiked during the day and slept under the stars. No showers (or bathrooms!) available for us.</p> <p>Now I have to go another week without showering... but this time the reason isn't so cool. I had a surgery and have wires sticking out of my neck, so until they come out I can't get wet. I did give myself a sponge bath, but it's just not the same. Especially because I can't wash my hair.</p> <p>Anybody else have to (or choose to) go a while without showering? Why? </p>
