I financed 4 years of undergrad, 2 years grad school, 1 year post bacc and 4 years of med school... All at public universities, but still over $150. </p> <p>The thing is, without affordable student loans I would NEVER be where I am today! I was able to change social strata solely based on my ability to procure student loans for graduate and post-graduate training. I only had student loans from my last year in college, which should have been around $10k. One day I received a letter about an "adjustment" and ended up with less than $4k. To this day I have no idea what happened. I think it was over $50k, maybe actually around $70k? It's hard to remember b/c it was an overwhelming number, so I just put it out of my mind and worked as hard as I could.</p> <p>I eventually paid it off working as a consultant, and then I was able to quit working and start my first company. Thank goodness, b/c I hated corporate life.</p> <p>That's the most I've ever been in debt. How about you? </p>
