@mrbee yay!! Yeah you will be a pro in no time once you get the hang of how to do it in your oven. I have a double gas oven and it cooks fast and hot in the upper one, it's like a mini gas toaster oven. I do 90% of my cooking in it.

FYI I don't use a cooling rack in the oven and it works great that way, too. When it comes out it is in a bit of grease, but that happens when pan frying anyway. I just take them out immediately with tongs, put on a paper towel covered plate and they're always nice and crispy! :-)

I bake it too! On a Pampered Chef stone pan, put it in a cold oven, heat it to 400 and leave it for about 18 minutes. Comes out crispy and never even a little burnt. So good.

Ditto to the bacon in the oven! I usually keep mine in a bit longer than everyone suggested based on the thickness of the bacon. I also flip halfway (not necessary I just like to check on it).

It takes 20 minutes in our oven at 400 for the entire package. Put the bacon in a cool oven and then turn it on. Yummy!! Gosh, I can't remember the last time I cooked bacon in a pan!!

For us the oven is best but I like pan fried as well, my oven may just be old but it takes about 30 min flipping half way through at 400 for the desired doneness
Happy Baconing!

i use the toaster oven because I hate dealing with splatters in the oven and it makes my oven smell. I line my toaster traty with foil, place a few slices so they don't touch, turn it on and about 6 minutes later, they're nice and cooked. I don't cook them till they're crunchy because they harden as they cool, so I cook it to ALMOST crispy. Then I let it cool on a paper towel.

I grew up on microwaved bacon, but I like oven bacon even better. I think it's easier to clean up (if you line with foil) because you can let the grease cool, then just ball up the foil and throw it away.

And then it's easy to make it even yummier by topping with some brown sugar or maple syrup.

Cooking it in the oven is the greatest thing ever. I line the cookie sheet with tin foil, then put a cooling rack (for cookies) on top of the tin foil. Put the bacon on that to keep it from swimming in grease. Bake at 350 until appropriately crispy. I like baking it because I take mine out 5 minutes or so before my lo and husband's bacon is done. We all get it the way we like it. :)

I just want to sing the praises of bacon in the oven too! You line a cookie sheet with foil (for easy clean-up), place the bacon in a COLD oven. Preheat to 400. And then for some, it's ready when the oven is fully preheated (it typically takes my oven 20 minutes to preheat to 400). But I tend to let it continue to cook until I'm happy with how it looks, and then VOILA! Crispy bacon.

I am afraid to look at the inside of my oven these days though, I'm sure it needs a good cleaning after how much bacon I've made :)

I suggest making your bacon in the oven on a metal cookie cooling rack. Since making bacon this way I will never go back. You get perfectly crisp bacon and no risk of burns! The bacon also retains its shape this way.
