No but none of them are around here. Sooooo...

Eta but you have to be on the list, which has your dl#, and show your dl before picking up a kid.

@yoursilverlining: Yes we toured some centers like this. Even with a 5 digit punch pad on the door, I'm sure people just let other people in and then you walked right into a room with babies!!

We have a home daycare that we use. The lady keeps doors locked, backyard is fenced. Also, if not DH or I, whoever picks up A has to show ID and be on our list. Otherwise they will call before releasing her.

There is an office and small lobby area. Then there is a door beyond that that needs a numeric code typed in to get into the area with the classrooms. But everyone holds the door open for each other so it isn't really 100% safe. Everyone is very friendly and chatty, so I recognize everyone coming in and out. If I didn't, I wouldn't hold the door open.

The door is locked; you need to swipe an electronic passcard to get in. If you don't have a card, you have to buzz the intercom, give your name and relationship to child you're there for, and then someone has to open the door for you.

There are cameras inside and out, and it's on the campus of a large corporation so security patrols several times a day as well.

I was NOT comfortable with some smaller places I toured where you opened the (unlocked) door and the babies were right there; sorry, but no thanks!!

We use a home daycare, and she keeps the doors locked at all times. When we get there I knock and she unlocks the door to let us in.

We are at an in home daycare, but they keep the front door locked from 9 am - 3 pm (after drop offs and then unlock for pick ups.) I'm fine with this as it's a small operation.

At our daycare you have to ring a bell to be let in. and they do not recognise you, you have to go to the main office which is at a different entrance and not connected to the infant room and you have to show ID there and if you are on the list of approved people to pick up that child, then they let you in.

To get into LOs school you need to know the passcode. Each family has their own passcode and they change it every few months.

the place we're looking at is set far back off the road and behind the hospital, you would never know it was there. There are two sets of doors that are always locked and a receptionist to buzz you in.

Mine is super secure.
They have cameras in every room. There is a receptionist at the front. You have to scan in to get in. Plus seeing as its a Military daycare center. The Military police swing by every now and again with an armed guard and patrol the area.

The classrooms do head counts every 30 mins and the front desk calls to every room every hour to confirm what they have for children scaned in and out matches with the class.

The building is always locked - you need a key fob to get in. If you don't have one there's a doorbell and someone from the staff will come get you.

You walk into an entryway where there is a thumbprint scanner to get into the reception area. For people who aren't in the system, there is a window into the reception area for them to speak to an employee who can buzz them in. The reception desk is always staffed and there are three doors from that area to different areas of the daycare. The receptionist buzzes you through the correct door to get to your child. I appreciate that level of security in a center where there are a lot of people in and out. If I was using a home provider I don't think I'd worry about it as much.

They have pretty tight security which I like.

You walk in the front door and there is a lobby with a reception desk. Usually 1-2 ladies up front.

From there, there are two doors (one to the right and one to the left) that go to hallways of classrooms. These doors are locked and the receptionists have to hit a button to unlock the doors.

From there each classroom has a door (not locked) and you have to go in and get your child and sign them out (on paper). The teachers also keep paper records of students checking in and out.

Is it completely closed off to the public? Is there a reception office?

If the security isn't very tight, are you okay with that?
