A couple of places I went to were like that. Then we visited the one we chose. It was the most expensive one and I wasn't planning to pick it, just wanted to see it for comparison sake. But there are 2 infant rooms and they are both bigger than any other place I saw, seemed actually roomy and not like a closet. The 2nd infant room is for when they started crawling/walking so you don't have older infants trampling all over a 6-week-old doing tummy time. It wasn't hectic, there were 2-3 babies fussing at once but they were all being taken care of and the teachers seemed patient and nonplussed. There's a playground and outdoor tables for older kids and its all fenced in securely. One place I looked was on a busy road! Made me so nervous. Obviously we aren't going yet since LO isn't here yet, but compared to the other places I saw first, it is clean and caring and roomy and well organized. I was afraid I'd never find a place that wasn't gross and weird and smelly but I did - just had to pay a bit more for it ;)

I love my daycare facility. When I moved here I was worried since there was only one option but a new one opened up a month before i needed it. It was just renovated and the space isn't large but it works. The are an attachment based / RIE philosophy for the infant and toddler rooms. What sold me were the friendliness of the staff, that it was clean, no outdoor shoe policy, peanut free and best of all the ratio they kept in the infant room was 1:2.

I know they love my children and have a great relationship with them. They have their favorite teachers and they run and give them hugs when I drop them off.

Ours has a pretty big infant room, with a large window to bring in natural light and let the babies see outside. They have 10 cribs in the room, each crib is located in a three sided alcove with its own dimmer switch. The alcove "belongs" to your baby so each baby has its own space. They don't do swings or bouncers, so the floor is covered in soft mats and large foam shapes to climb on. They also do baby sign language. It's called The Sunshine House. Its a chain. It was the first daycare we toured and we knew it was the one!

How are the daycare staff? I feel like the people where I've looked aren't going to care about my child like I will.

Ours is amazing. We are really lucky and the best day care in the Nashville area just opened a new location super close to our house. It's a brand new building. They have their grand opening next week and LO will be starting in March when I go back to work. We had enrolled at another place (before this one opened) and it was a lovely place and I'm sure LO would have been perfectly happy there. We have friends who go and love it. But this place was so bright and clean and I'm so glad we found it. Even if it will cost me an extra $1000 a year over the other place. Keep looking until you find somewhere you love!

I visited one today. I wasn't a fan.

It seemed kinda dirty and disorganized.

The infant room was smaller than LO's bedroom and had 5 cribs stuffed in it and toys all over the floor. Right now they have babies and 1 year olds in that room.

It just didn't seem like a nice place.
