Coming home from playing in the snow with my bestie Amy. She came back to my house. My dad helped us peel put of our snow boots, coats and scarves. All the while telling us the most ridiculous story about the green eyed monster. He made a fire for us, which was always fun because I imagined Fraggle Rock was located in the embers. We drank hot cocoa with way too many marshmallows. We were probably 6 or 7. Pure joy!

@mrbee: we are thinking about taking DD this year. There is a lake where you can rent a tepee right on the water and I think she'd love it!

Have you been back to your bookstore?

@Greentea: Recreating childhood memories with the kids is so much fun! At the end of the summer, we took our kids camping (something Bee and I both loved back in the day), and the kids loooved it.

@mrbee: I haven't! I mean, I have been back to Canada on roadtrips but I would love to take LO fishing like we did in Ontario. Good idea mr.bee! I'd love to get a camper van (but a cool one, vw or vintage econoline.)

My dad took us camping every summer in Canada. We would go to the same lake, totally in the middle of nowhere and live on the notherns we caught. And some oatmeal and pancakes. We loved fishing with dad. And he let us eat all the candy we wanted.

We lived on a lake and would take the boat across the lake to see our grandparents every day. And we lived next to a candy store. And we got to run around free. Kid dream! And my dad would take us for rides on his motorcycle and we would feel SO COOL!

I really loved going to the secondhand book store with my dad, and perusing the books there for hours. It was even more heavenly than going to the library, because they had so many more books that I was interested in. Afterward I would visit my grandma, who lived near the bookstore. She would lend me her library card, and I'd pick up a bunch of books to read at home.

I also used to love reading my dad's computer magazines, and learning to program. Basically I was a nerd. Back then information wasn't nearly as accessible as it is now, and reading a magazine would often blow your mind. I've had many magazine subscriptions in the years since, and have never experienced anything like that.
