My mom's brisket recipe, her sugar cookie recipe, and my grandma's jelly/jam recipe. Having a home ec agent as a grandma has led to some darn good recipes over the years. And having Amish relatives doesn't hurt either in the recipe department.

@skibobrown: We don't keep kosher either, lol. We use the chili sauce brisket recipe, I see it in a lot of cookbooks from old Jewish women (I have one from the Jewish nursing home I used to work at where the residents all wrote their favorite recipes) so I feel like it's very popular. Funny story- my family went camping on Yom Kippor instead of going to services and then had bacon for breakfast (not me, I don't eat pig). Well it ended up pouring the entire weekend! We think it's because we were bad Jews. That's what we get for not keeping kosher!

@looch: Sounds so yummy!

My grandma's pie crust -- it's an all butter pie crust, plus it has some cream and an egg yolk in it. It has to be the most unhealthy recipe ever, but it makes a fabulously flaky tasty pie crust. Also, my mom's brisket. We make it every year for passover. Technically I think it's not kosher, (it has a can of Campbell's cream of mushroom soup on it) so probably not what we should be eating on the holiday... oh well.

My Mom's pasta salad. My husband calls it, Regina's Famous. :-)
Cooked chicken, small shell pasta, hard boiled eggs, celery, onion, mayo, mustard, salt, pepper and dried cilantro. Delicious! I make big bowls of it at least every other week in the summer.

My grandma makes the best pie crust. And it's soooo easy!
2 cups flour, 1/2 cup oil, 1/4 cup milk. This makes the bottom and top crust, so you half it if you only want the bottom. Mix it together until it's just mixed, you don't want to over work it. It's easiest if you just use your hands to mix. And of course you just roll it out and put it in the pie plate. It's very flaky and very scamp. And so yummy!

I also love my mom's chicken soup. But we kind of cheat by using a boxed matzo ball mix. It's hard to make matzo balls without them being as hard as a rock without using the mix.

Fill a huge pot 3/4 of the way with water and boil. Put the chicken (one full cut up chicken on the bone and then some more of whatever you like best, my mom puts in breasts but I like dark meat so I add more of that) in, lower heat, and cook for an hour. Take chicken out and let cool. Take chicken off the bone and put back in pot.

Add veggies- Baby carrots, cut up celery, and cut up onions.

Make matzo ball mix (found in the ethnic section of the grocery store, get the kind that has soup and matzo balls). Follow directions on the box.

Let soup simmer for a long time, I try to let it sit all day, at least 4-5 hours. It's also best if you leave it in the fridge over night, so it's great when you want to make something ahead of time.

I like to dip challah in it, and you can also add egg noodles. So yum!
