I picked strawberries (couldn't stand them until I knew about their ripeness - they don't ripen off the plant, though they do get redder - so I smell my strawberries to tell if they were picked ripe), there's a white peach orchard right by one of my dad's courier stops, and my grandma had a Golden Delicious tree - we'd make pie and apple chips every year. Perfect ripeness is really what makes a fruit for me.
