I love conferencing with students and talking about their ideas and opinions, and seeing them make deeper connections and realizations about stuff. I love seeing their brains at work. </p> <p>I once got a letter from a student at the end of the term that thanked me for showing her that her opinions really do have value. I am working a temporary nanny gig until early March taking care of a beautiful 4 month old baby boy. I am so happy that I can work one last nanny gig before my own little one comes into the world. My favorite part is all of it. I have so much fun taking care of him. He's an easy baby. He eats well, naps well, and is so happy! My favorite part of my job right now is the flexibility my manager bestows on me. As long as I get my work done, he doesn't mind me taking care of personal things (e.g. leaving work a lil early, working from home, etc.). Not sure if I can handle the change if I get a new manager! Regarding my job, people usually fall into two camps and say either: 1) "Oh that should be easy, just babysitting right?!" Or 2) "I could NEVER do that! It takes a special person to teach young kids!"</p> <p>It is really difficult, but incredibly rewarding! My school is in a rural area and I work with at-risk kids. Many times school/their teacher is the only stable aspect of their day-to-day lives which can be heartbreaking. However, my 18 four year olds bring me such joy and happiness. They are incredibly funny and sweet and even the most challenging kids help me realize that I'm definitely in the right profession for me. So parents/co-workers/behavior issues can be challenging, but the children and their personalities are my favorite part of my job.</p> <p>What's your favorite part of your job? </p>
