This is the recipe I tried, which is gluten-free:

http://paleoparents.com/2011/video-blog-ep4-breastfeeding-qa-and-grain-free-lactation-cookies/

As for ground flaxseed, I found them at Trader Joe's if there's one near you. :)

@travelgirl1: No. They need to be ground, but you can grind them in a coffee grinder if you have one. If they aren't ground, they won't be absorbed, rather I've been told they just pass through.

@MaisyMay: I'm in Canada so I'm not sure we have safeway... I've found actual flax seeds rather than meal... would they be okay?

@travelgirl1: Flax seed meal is important. You can get it at safeway if you don't want to go to a specialty store.

@Thehistoryofus: Ha I'm weighing them because I've been driving myself insaaane with worry so doing that helps me chill out : ) In all seriousness though she's having enough diapers but I was worried whether they were heavy enough, as I think they say six 'heavy' diapers, and we read to pour so many tbspns of water on a diaper, and that's how it should feel - so we weighed that as a benchmark. Some are heavy enough, some aren't. She is a very happy baby though, so smiley and giggly and fun so I'm not worried about her from that side of it. I'll just be so glad to have a LC come out and look at her and see whether it's all in my head or whether I do need help such as milk-boosting meds.

@travelgirl1: you are doing great!!! Is she having the right number of wet diapers and seems happy? If so why are you weighing the diapers??

I actually used a monster cookie recipe which is gluten free (no flour more oatmeal) to make them even heartier.

@Kemma: Thank you! I'm much calmer today, I think knowing help is on its way is very reassuring. I've stopped pumping as she said she thought time after feeding was better spent resting, and I'm gobbling lactation cookies like there's no tomorrow. My breasts have felt fuller today so that has boosted my confidence. A hasn't fussed at all while feeding today, so we've had a happier family all round. We're weighing her diapers and I don't think she is having quite as much output as she should, but I'm sure the LC will be able to see what the problem is tomorrow, I suspect it's a combination of factors. One of the problems has been we can't do things like spend all day in bed and carrying her all the time, that would help improve breastfeeding, because she HAS to kick for her hips to improve, so I'm constantly trying to get her excited so she kicks like crazy, and often that means being on her back, not cuddled up to us. But today I've played with her loads and she's loved it, and tomorrow help is on its way, so fingers crossed we can get it all sorted : )

@travelgirl1: Hope the feeding's going ok today! I saw on one of the other threads that you managed to find an LC, I'm sure they'll be able to reassure you and really help you with positioning. Keep having confidence in yourself and if LO is having good outputs and she's still sleeing well and happy when she's up then you're all doing fine!

@JessLC: @hilsy85: If it's not my supply I'm worrying about, it's latching and if it's not latching it's frequency of feeding etc etc...

@JessLC: @hilsy85: Thank you so much, you're really sweet. Honestly, the support on here is what is keeping me sane at the moment. I've booked an appointment with my doctor for next week to see if they will prescribe me something if the situation is still bad then, and I've emailed a private lactation consultant so I've made moves to get more help and I'm going to 'try' to calm down and enjoy my baby instead of being so upset and stressed. I'm going to try fit a dreamfeed in too to see if I can get her eating when she's not aware of it : )

@travelgirl1: aw hugs! Just wanted to say keep your chin up and that you and LO will adapt to this new challenge--she sounds like a very bright little girl from what i've read on your Nov mama thread (yes major lurker here!). And remember, regardless of what happens from here on out, you have done an amazing job keeping up til now.

And I may be trying the cookie recipe, I'm also getting concerned about my supply (@JessLC: ha also my worry du jour).

@Kemma: Thank you : ) I just made a batch and I'll grab some flaxseed tomorrow to make batch two. It's much of the same to be honest, but I have lost so much confidence in my ability to breastfeed and be a mum in general that I'm not helping, and positioning is hard with her harness, poor little thing. When we get it right she really wants to feed, but my supply has been hit hard from it (and mostly from worrying, I think) so I've enlisted DH to play with her after a feed so I can try pump etc. I'm also looking up LCs and will try and get one to come to our house to help us position her comfortably and see just how much she's eating, look at her latch etc. Thanks so much for asking, it was really nice of you : )

That's the recipe I use but I find them quite sweet so you may need to adjust the amount of sugar to your liking. The Brewers Yeast is the main active ingredient but the flaxseed gives an extra boost.

How's the feeding going today?

It's baking time!

I found this recipe http://www.bellybelly.com.au/breastfeeding/breastmilk-supply-increase-breastmilk-lactation-cookie-recipe

But I don't have any flaxseed meal... do you think it will make a difference?

I think I might add some Golden Syrup instead of chocolate chips to the mix, yum!
