@Cherrybee: the trade off with a boy though is they outgrow the snuggles sooner. I bet your daughter will be all about em soon enough. I feel like the beginning of toddlerdom is all about independence but then you have another or they start to see that they are growing up and they want more snuggles again.

@MrsMccarthy: Aaaaaw. I'm so jealous!! My little girl isn't snuggly at all. We met a little 11 month old boy at the soft play a couple of weeks ago and kept running up to me and hugging me (his mum was there btw!) - it was just adorable!!!

@Cherrybee: you know I hadn't/haven't even thought what mine might be as a parent! DH and I are both QT as our #1 (and there is so much irony to this we are learning) but as a parent, I'm not really sure where I would fall.

My son is just like Olive! He loves to snuggle and kiss and cuddle. My good friend is visiting and he just jumps into her lap and hugs her and kisses her. He loves to hold on to people and be close. It's really charming and sweet. I am also like that so it's nice. I would have a hard time not having a snuggly kid cause I am such an Elmira.

@Cherrybee: same as you, I'm just happy with cuddles (and anything else I can get!). I definitely don't have the same level of expectation from them that I do my spouse or friends.

I don't know at the moment because she is so young but this thread got me to thinking....

@mrbee: @Beebug: @Mrs. High Heels: (just picked a few people to direct the question to) - is YOUR love language in your relationship with your child(ren) different to your love language in your relationship? Mine is quality time in my relationship but totally physical touch with my LO - if she approaches me for a cuddle I'm so happy!

I think N's is definitely quality time, followed by words of affirmation. I'm not sure about J's yet! Possibly touch - he's such a huggable, affectionate one.

I think I am physical touch and acts of service. LO seems to be quality time I think but we'll see!

I'm excited to see what it'll turn out to be. She's only a year, and is NOT a snuggly baby, and the rest are pretty hard to tell this early.

It depends. Gifts, touch, and/or qt. It is the one she getting the least of. Oh boy, don't even try to give her Acts of Service. She wants to do everything by herself.

Funny, just learned what mine is (and DHs) but even by guessing I'm not sure what DDs would be, still so young though, so try to show her many forms of love until she shows a preference! I grew up in a don't show affection/emotion/share feelings home, and I don't want that for her!

Just wanted to add this for anyone who isn't familiar for themselves! http://www.5lovelanguages.com The quiz to find yours is cool, it's all new to me, so I'm a little excited over it lately!

Our LO is almost 4 months old so it's too early to tell. The love languages have been really helpful in our marriage so I will definitely try to zero in on LO's love language when it's time.

@mrbee: I think it's great you have noticed this about your LOs and can be intentional about it!

I'm excited to find this out about K. Right now, it's physical touch for sure- but that's her main form of feeling love right now. It'll be neat to see how it changes as she grows.

Ok besides videos, iDevices, candy and ice cream... what's your LO's love language?

My son loves to do arts and crafts with us... if we get on the floor with him and draw all the logos worn by members of the Justice League, he is so so happy. This isn't hypothetical - it's what we did two nights ago on the floor of his bedroom before bedtime. So I guess you could say that his love language is Quality Time.

My daughter loves to hug us and snuggle at bedtime, and give us hugs and kisses when anyone leaves the house. So I'll put her love language down as Physical Touch.

It all seems a bit silly, but I've found it helpful to keep this stuff in mind when spending time with the kids. Our daughter is always asking us to hold her, and I used to think it was just because she was lazy. Now I think that maybe she just loves to snuggle with her mom and dad, and loves having us wrap her up in her arms.

What's your LO's love language?
