@yoursilverlining: I have dry skin that is prone to rosacea, but now that I have eliminated the oily moisturizers, it's more normal.

I would love to tinker and make my own, I have a feeling the tea tree is too astringent.

Thanks for all the input everyone! I ordered some products yesterday and am going to focus on a good cleansing/moisturizing/spf routine to start off with. Once I'm adjusted to that I'm going to try out some anti-aging serums. My skin really needs baby steps!

@looch: What kind of skin do you have? I have oily/combination skin, which is also very sensitive. I do a mix of castor oil, sweet almond oil, grapeseed oil, tamanu oil and then a little bit of rose essential oil (which is a rose absolute in jojoba oil). The rough proportions are about 30% caster, 60% sweet almond/grapeseed and about 10% tamanu oil. Then just a couple of drops of the rose essential oil.

I'm a Bare Minerals gal. I love all of their products. I start with their Pure Plush cleansing foam, then their Skinlongevity serum. This isn't anti-aging, but they have anti-aging things. I finish off with Bare Haven soft cream. They do have an eye cream that I've used once or twice, but I don't have the bag issue at least for the moment.

On exfoliation days, I go Dermalogica and do that once or twice/week. I did get a charcoal mask from Beauty Counter that wasn't bad, but I'm really reluctant to mess with what works.

@yoursilverlining: What do you have in your cleansing oil? I have made a formulation using grapeseed and tea tree, but I have found that it's not the right combo for my skin.

I’ll be 36 in 2 weeks and definitely am into fighting signs of aging! I’m a firm believer that better quality (generally more expensive) products make a huge difference (but of course don’t work miracles). Seeing a dermatologist is a really good idea, and I’m also a big fan of regular masks and facials. Switching to Dr. Hauschka products totally changed my skin's life and I can't say enough about everything they make.

My favorite mask to do is just plain honey, but I also use other ones too. I’ve been trying out some Korean masks and so far they have been hit or miss so if anyone has ones they love I would love to hear the name/a link!

Daytime:
Cleanse with: Dr. Hauschka milk cleaner
Toner: Dr. Hauschka clarifying toner
Moisturize with: Dr. Hauschka normalizing day oil
Day eye cream: Dr. Hauschka daily eye cream

Night:
Remove makeup with a baby wipe
Cleanse with: oil cleansing method. I LOVE Biodroga oil cleaner but it’s not perfect for my skin so I make my own oil from a combination of different oils.
Toner: Dr. Hauschka clarifying toner
Night eye cream: I’m not absolutely loyal to any one particular brand of night cream or night eye cream. I have tried and liked a bunch of different ones. Right now I’m using Kate Sommerville dark circle eye cream and I really like her products generally speaking. I have also used, liked and would use again: Shisedo night eye cream, SK-II products, Dr. Hauschka night serums, some of the Chanel night creams and more. I know a lot of people love La Mer and I think it’s an excellent quality product, but it made my skin break out so it doesn’t work for me.

The one product line I hate is anything by Oil of Olay. I’ve tried a bunch of their stuff and my skin hates it every single time. I know that works for others though.

I use sunscreen/hats during the day and some olive or coconut oil at night. I do honey masks once and a while (like, maybe monthly) too. But by and large, I quit using skincare products and nearly all makeup products about 5 years back and my skin improved a ton. (As an added bonus, I have more time at night and in the morning, because I'm not doing some of the things I did before!)

Basically, I decided to make peace with getting older, because I can't do anything about that fact. :silly: The date on the calendar is going to say what it says, you know? :)

@periwinklebee: I agree. :wink:

I follow the Korean multi-step routine for the most part, but I also add in some anti-aging products such as a BHA, a Vitamin C, and retinol. For the BHA and retinol I'm using Paula's Choice. For Vitamin C, I mix a couple drops in with my morning moisturizer, then slather on SPF.

I think the most important things to maintaining youthful skin are SPF, lots of water, and never sleeping with makeup on. If you can help it, take off your makeup right when you get home for the day.

I also recommend googling chemical exfoliators and how to layer and/or alternate them. I love reading the articles/posts on "Into the Gloss". Also, Sunday Riley Good Genes is a holy grail product! I tried a sample sized version and was hooked. I'm not ready to splurge on it yet, but it was amazing.

At night I wash my face with a Clinique face wash that’s super gentle. I put on hyaluronic serum and then moisturizer (usually just my daytime one, I didn’t like my night time one. )

In the morning I use hyaluronic acid serum again and then cetaphil moisturizer with spf. I use Trisha mcevoy BB cream too which I think also has spf.

I’m 38 and pretty much have no wrinkles or crows feet. I think it’s partially genetics - my mom barely has any either, and partially because I wear sunglasses almost every moment I’m outside. I’m really sensitive to light so I usually have sunglasses on before I’m even outside and I tend to wear them unless it’s pouring or snowing.

I attribute my good skin to good genes and being half Asian. I also go to the dermatologist once a year for a mole check. This year I asked about Retin A/Retinol products for fine lines. He didn’t think those products would be a good idea yet for my skin (and honestly, my lines aren’t horrible, I’m just self conscious). He did prescribe Differin Gel, which is actually an acne treatment but he said some patients see results with fine lines. I’ve been using it for maybe 8 months and I think I see a slight improvement. In any case, the lines aren’t getting worse. He also recommended using a hyaluronic acid serum to help further hydrate.

My routine:
I wash my face twice a day with a foaming cleanser by Caudalie.
I just discovered micelle water this year and use it as an eye makeup remover/toner. The one I use is by Bioderma.
In the morning I use La Roche Posay Anthelios SPF 50. @looch: recommended it awhile back and I love it!
In the evening I use the Differin Gel.

I did buy a hyaluronic serum by Pestle and Mortar. I’m on the fence about it. It makes my skin feel extremely smooth, but I don’t find that it is hydrating enough on its own. I layer it under the sunscreen if I’m feeling dry. In the winter or if I’m swimming a lot, I would layer it under moisturizer (Chanel).

I don’t typically use face scrubs as my skin is pretty smooth.

I'm turning 33 and my morning routine is face wash, Vitamin C serum and SPF. PM is cleansing oil, face scrub 3x/week, a serum of some kind, sheet mask 3-4x/week, lotion and eye cream. My evening serum is usually retinol but I'm TTC at the moment so just an antioxidant serum without Vitamin A. If I have time on the weekends I add a fruit acid peel.

I have several friends from college who are dermatologists, and they all say that by far the most important thing to do to maintain young looking skin in the long-run is to always wear spf. If you're going to be out for a longer period, wear a hat to shade your face.

TBH, I'm skeptical about many products. They might temporarily firm up your skin, but it's not clear that some of them are doing anything to make it healthier in the long-run, and may actually clog pores, irritate sensitive skin under the eyes, etc. I'm a big fan of grapeseed oil mixed with just a few drops of lavender and helichrysum essential oil. I use that at night, and its much less irritating to my sensitive skin than many commercial products, which have a super long ingredient list. It doesn't work well for daytime, though, since oil dissolves makeup.

I follow k-beauty steps.

Double cleansing with first an oil base that removes make-up, then water base cleanser. Then toner, then I do two watery essence (one is purely hydrating, the other is the popular Missha one). Then I layer on actual essence, eye cream, then a sleeping mask (don't need to wash off). I know it sounds like a lot but I just do it super fast. I don't do this many steps in the mornings.

I am 42, and people are always shocked by it because I look like I might be in my early 30s. I attribute most of it to good genes, though.

As for products, what I've noticed, is that I had to go to a dermatologist to understand the type of skin that I have. I thought I had oily, acne prone skin, when I actually had dry skin that was prone to rosacea. That has changed how I manage my skin care.

I wash my face at night, using either a cleansing oil or a foaming face wash. I get both of these products at drug stores. I lather up, then use a microfiber face cloth to remove the lather and the makeup. While my face is still damp, I spritz on Missha Essence. It comes in a bottle and you're supposed to apply it with a cotton pad, but I put it in a spray bottle so I waste less. Since I have some texture issues, I use either a Nuetrogena Rapid Repair face pad or the CosRx Whitehead power lotion as a nightly treatment. Once a week, I use a snail mucin cream on top of that. No other nightly moisturizers.

During the day, I really like the La Roche Posay Anthelios sunscreen. They have a ton of formulations and it has Mexoryl, which doubles as a wrinkle smoother.

I also found that if I layer a peach corrector under my concealer, I have great success in covering my dark under eye circles.

I use a system from an MLM. In the morning I do face wash, day cream (SPF basically), moisturizer. At night it’s face wash, night cream (whatever that is lol), moisturizer, eye cream. I also do microdermabrasion about 2x/week.

I’m not generally an MLM user, but DH works in the corporate office for this one and gets 85% off so it’s worth it for the low price.

I'm only 2 years into my 30s, but I too am noticing my skin looking a little sad. I've started getting into Korean beauty, so I am using an oil cleanser, foaming cleanser, toner, and a moisturizer daily. I need to find SPF that doesn't make me break out, and I do occasionally exfoliate and use sleeping masks to help my skin. It looks better since I started this (though I do always look tired, but #infants).

We just got our family pictures back, and if I'm being honest, I'm a little disappointed with the way my skin looks and the new bags/wrinkles around my eyes. I'm currently a face wash, moisturizer, occasional exfoliation kinda girl and know that there are tons more products out there. I don't even know where to start though, toner, serum, eye cream, masks, etc....

What is your skin care regimen? What kind of products, how often? Bonus points if you're well into your 30's and starting to combat some signs of aging...
