despite loving products and makeup, I stick to a somewhat simple routine for my face.
cetaphil face wash morning and night (always, I never stray from my beloved cetaphil). once a week a scrub: ole hendrickson walnut scrub. morning: origins brightening SPF face lotion. evening: olay or whatever night cream I have on hand. I'm also pretty good about applying lotion/spf to my neck and chest as well.

acne: sulphur based spot treatment

new additions: i got a clairsonic for christmas, I use it every few days. also a prescription retin A micro for those wrinkles that are popping up (but every other day, that stuff is strong)

@nana87: I always used Clinique too. And I still do. I realized my face isn't as oily/pimple prone as I thought so I am not scared to use creams anymore. I'm concerned about wrinkles too. Now, I use the little sized mild bar of soaps from Clinique. (one box with the set of three will last me a year or more) I use a nuetragena clear pore toner that I get for cheap from target. And I still use clinique moisturizers. Turnaround at night and recently a repairwear laser focus cream with spf for day. And I usually have a 7 day scrub that I use sporadically in the shower. I try to only buy this stuff when there's a gift because I like the all about eye cream that comes as a freebie. When I'm done with this pregnancy, I am going to get stri-vectin from costco and try that out for the fine lines I'm seeing on my face.

this is so interesting, everyone does/uses such different stuff! how did you all learn about what works for you? just experimenting? friends/family recommendations? a consultant at a make up counter or department store? dermatologist?

@LuLu Mom: yes! made a huge difference when I went non-toxic on my beauty products.

I use Pure Haven or Dr. Bronner's for face wash, Clarisonic twice a week. Tretinoin every other day.
I use organic argan or coconut oil for moisturizer.

I use Neutrogena Cleanser at night and in the morning use a BB cream before make-up.
I have a NEUTROGENA Microdermabrasion System that I really should use more often, and I use this Indian Healing Clay as a face mask, also not often enough.

@snowjewelz: Me too. It took me a bit of experimenting to find the right mix of things but now I like my routine. For example, I found the oil and foam double cleansing to be too emollient for my skin, so I have removed the oil part of now and use a snail mucin cream as my night cream and it's great.

I usually just wash my face with water, but if it's grimy I'll use some cleanser, I've been using freebies forever as I somehow accumulated some.

For me the most important thing is eye cream morning and evening, because my eyes get so dry and scratchy. I use an origins one - it's not cheap but lasts forever and makes my face feel so much better. In the morning I use a moisturizer with spf. In the wintertime, I also use a nighttime moisturizer, in the summer I don't really need the nighttime moisturizer, except on occasion. Both are origins.

For my hands, i just use aquaphor at night a couple of times a week. It works wonders and is pretty cheap. I first discovered it when the dermatologist recommended it for curing really chapped lips, which it is also great for.

I use a bunch of different products but I really like the Korean way where you just layer on the stuff. So I do wash-toner-essence-serum-lotion. I'm too lazy most of the time but if I'm more diligent I'd be doing masks 2x a week too. I've been really into sleeping packs; pretty much masks you can go to sleep with, the lazy way!

I use the Pure Haven Essentials skin care line. Cleanser & toner morning and night. In the morning I use hyaluronic acid and moisturizer, in the evenings I use a night serum and eye cream after washing. My face has never looked better, even when I was using a Timewise line (aka anti-wrinkles.) About 2x a week I use an exfoliator - for me anymore than that dries out my skin.

Neutrogena face wash in the morning when I shower. Then Pond's Cold Cream twice a day (once in the morning before my makeup and once at night after I take my makeup off). Full disclosure I have super easy skin that almost never breaks out. My biggest skin secret is to always always wear sunscreen.

And now that I'm pregnant, I use Bio Oil on my stomach and chest.

Do you have a skincare routine that you love? I'd love to hear what products you use!

Way back, I used to use a bunch of products--like, Clinique's 3-step process, so face wash, toner, and moisturizer, but I felt like my (normal to dry) skin did better when I did less, so for the last I don't even know how long, I've only used a really mild face wash (Fresh's soy cleanser), and sometimes a random moisturizer or whatever that I get a free sample of from Sephora. But I'm getting older and I feel like there's a whole world of anti-wrinkle, moisturizing, etc stuff that I maybe should figure out...

What do you do to keep your face feeling healthy?
