DH is the burpmaster- our new baby is is SOOOO burpy and spit-up-ey and he can always get her to burp without throwing up also.

He is also a much better play-er than I am... I tend to worry about getting out the door/ making meals/ cleaning the house while I am hanging with DD1 while he totally focuses on her and will play toys for hours.

Not exactly parenting but you can really count on him on the big things : handling insurance, setting up college savings fund (before tax), financial planning, and he cares a lot about DS's education. He tries to go to every school meetings and activities. And I count on him on cooking for the big things, such as Thanksgiving dinner... and he's an amazing cook. :P

ETA: I almost forgot! He is really wonderful and patient in teaching DS about money. DS (turning 5 in Jan) would earn a bit of allowance every now and then, and DH would take him to the shop to look at LEGOs and toys and what not, and then he would try to discuss with DS if it is a good idea to spend this much money for a small box or save for later to get a bigger box. The past week we took DS to buy gifts for foster kids. He painstakingly helped DS pay at the cashier for two packs of hot wheels using the money he saved in the "GIFT" jar. (we have a save, spend, and gift jar system) I don't think I could do that if I were on my own.

@PawPrints: @Mama Bird: Yes! DH is the master nail cutter. He can do the whole set in less time it takes me to cut one nail. DS will sit still for him but not me. To be fair, I did it when DS used to sleep through it, which was the first several months.

DH is also better at giving him supper. I concentrate more on proper portions of the 4 food groups, while DH gives him a larger fruit portion than veg or protein, but he eats way more for him. I guess I have less patience for meal time. It takes so darn long!!!

He has way more patience with our toddler in the middle of the night. I get so mad at being kept awake ornif she is fooling around. He started taking over all the toddler wake ups when I was pregnant with our second and we have kept it that way (fair, since I still get up almost every night with the almost one year old!). But if I go in I lose patience so fast.

@youboots: Forgot about this - whenever one of the kiddos gets sick, I clean the kiddo up while he deals with the mess in the bed/carpet/floor. I'll come back out from giving my oldest a bath after he's thrown up on himself, and DH will have clean sheets already on the bed with the gross ones rinsed out and in the washer already.

Dealing with everything gross, poop, barf, blood... he fixes it no problem. Also picking up her room. And putting her to bed. He slays it at parenting in general.

DH sleep trained DD!!! As in, he puts her on her pillow and she stays there. If she gets up at night he talks to her till she lies down and goes to sleep. When I tried that, she'd just wail and wail till I let her nurse. Yesterday he asked me to put her to bed just to see if I can. Total fail, and I'm pretty sure she was trying to push me away from the crib and looking over my shoulder for daddy.

@PawPrints: DH does this in our family too! The kids sit still for him. They wouldn't for me.

Packing us up if we're ever going anywhere. I have such a bad memory and I forget half of the stuff that we need. He's got that down pat and prefers that I get the boys up, dressed, teeth brushed and ready to go out the door. He gets all of the bags ready. He's amazing.

Trimming DD's nails. He doesn't mind it at all. She's 20 months old and I have never attempted it. I think if he were to get hit by a bus this is the one thing he does that I would have the hardest time stepping up and taking over!
