My older son was 2.5 when my younger son was born, and the younger is now only 3 months old so maybe things will change, but we don't plan to get a new stroller or attachments. We'd used the stroller maybe three times in the preceding 6 months for DS1, so we figured we could easily do without for him. DS1 just walks everywhere, and the couple of times when he has gotten tired near the end of an excursion, DH will just carry him or let him ride on his shoulders the last 5-10 minutes or so. If I really wanted to have the stroller available for DS1, I'd just wear DS2. I'm glad we didn't end up buying another stroller- I think it would have gone unused.

Charlie and Olive are 22 months apart and we couldn't live without a double stroller, but we live in new york. Charlie just turned 4, Olive is 2 and we will use it every day.

I have been planning on writing a post on this, but I would wait until baby is here and you know your needs better.

My kids have the same age gap, 2 years 9 months, and I don't use a double stroller. But we do live in the suburbs. I usually have the baby in the stroller and my older one walks.

For long walks, I've had DD1 in the stroller and DD2 in the carrier.

We got a double and our kids are 3 years, 1 month apart. We used it a lot until DS was 4 but I also go on a lot of walks and run 3-4 times a week. I'm now pregnant again so it will be useful.

Have you seen the b-ready? It has an attachable second seat which is only $99 extra. You can take it off by the time your second is too old to ride in it.

I would suggest wearing and pushing one though and see how it works for you. For me, it got bulky so we got a double when LO #2 was 6 weeks old.

We just pushed 2 strollers when really necessary, and pushed my DD (age exactly 3 when DS was born) to walk.
@mamimami: I really regret not getting a sit n stand for my kids. My DH nixed it because we already had two strollers, but I should have just ignored him!

@mamimami: good to know, I'll look that up! I don't use the stroller to actually jog :) just walking on gravel roads!

We have a Joovy sit and stand and we added a valco hitchhiker (little skateboard thing) to our jogging stroller, but you couldn't use that to actually run as the older kid has to stand up. You could walk though!

DS is due at the end of may/early june and DD will be 2 years 9 months at that time. Right now we have a single child jogging stroller. Should I invest in a double or keep the jogging stroller and wear DS on walks this summer? If I get a double will DD outgrow it by the following summer at 3 1/2 years (meaning I would only need the double for summer and fall)?
