Right now it is going to be here and there, whenever I feel up to it. After the baby comes I think I will try to work M 7p-7a and Th 7p-7a. That way I can still be a stay at home mom and also feel like I am contributing to the family.

My schedule is 8:30-5:30 with an hour lunch break, Mon-Fri. Minimal OT at home and boss is very flexible if I have to come in late/leave early!

@MamaMagpie: @Jessiebear: Those phone calls can make a day off really feel like a day on, even when they are short! My FFA students and their parents have my cell phone number, in case they have a livestock emergency, etc. I rarely go a weekend without a phone call, or 10, so I feel your pain!

I am a high school Ag teacher and FFA advisor. My required hours are 7:15-3:15, but I usually go in and hour early or stay an hour late. Just like all the other teachers I grade and lesson plan in the evening and over the weekend (that's what I'm supposed to be doing now ;) ). I also have quite a few FFA commitments, including checking on kids projects over the summers, the 5 fairs my kids can show livestock at, contest practices, fundraisers and chapter and alumni meetings. We just had our public speaking contests so on Wednesdays I was there until about 7, because the kids would trickle in when their respective practice was over. In addition to the 2 fairs that require overnight travel we also go to our state convention the first 4 days of spring break, a weekend leadership camp in October and and about a full week at National Convention every other October.

My single biggest fear about having kids is how I will still have time for it all, because I absolutely love my job and the relationships that I am able to build with my students, their families and our community!

8-4, M-F. Sometime it varies to 830-430 or 9-5, but I try to keep it at 8-4 whenever I can. :) In the summer I sometimes do the later schedule so I can get in a long walk before work.

@Mrs. Pen: Yes! We live in the same town where I work and DH teaches in the next town over (very small towns). We see kids alllll the time. We never go out to eat or to the store without seeing at least one of our students/coworkers.

I'm a teacher so my paid hours/schedule is fantastic for when I have kids: 8-3...
...but I spend many unpaid hours after work and over the weekend preparing for lessons and grading work. I suppose I will need to learn how to manage that more once LO gets here.

8:30 to 5 M-F and on call 24/7.

The on call stuff is really starting to wear on me. Saturday we had my daughter's 1st birthday party and I had 11 calls starting at 7 AM. They're usually short calls, but they make me feel on edge and interrupt the flow of the day. The weekend before, I was on the phone at 1 AM and then again from 6 AM to 9 AM dealing with a resident issue that ultimately resulted in discharging a resident for hitting one of my staff, getting drunk and groping another staff member. So over it.

I'm jealous of the actual schedules! I'm lucky to have a LOT of flexibility but it's not conducive to setting up a consistent schedule and it leads to sometimes having 12-hour days. The flipside is that sometimes I have short 6-hour days. But I always need to be available by email, so unless it's a day off (Sunday and Monday), I'm kind of on call. You'd think I'd be doing something important (like teaching or being in the medical field) but, alas, it's just cosmetics. Sometimes, when people are freaking out as though the counter is on fire, I want to shout "it's just cream, people!!!" :silly:
