Then it was just on with life as usual - babies are so portable at that age. For months she was just my little sidekick, we did everything together. I felt really good, so we took long walks every day and went out to dinners and took some baby classes and hung out with friends. Baby wearing made it all very easy! #2 was born in Feb. so we were a little more careful. The pediatrician didn't want us to take him anywhere. It was also the middle of December in New England. We were out and about quickly because it was so nice out and I was already stir crazy! She mostly slept in her car seat. Those were the good old days! She immediately started going where we went,p. I very firmly believe the fresh air and change of scenery and environments is good for babies. I got some snide comments about taking her out so young but they never bothered me because I don't care what other people think about how I raise my kid. She is actually going through a growth spurt and will want to feed round the clock so I'm going to try and wait it out. Good news is I tested the Ergo with infant insert today and she fell asleep in it after a short while of fussing. The last trip to target was almost bad, he's been super fussy so he no longer will sleep everywhere and anywhere - it takes some serious soothing to get him down, and he fusses if he's awake and held for too long! So he woke up and started crying and i almost left the store but then he fell asleep again. He's now 3 weeks, and we typically go on at least one walk per day: around the neighborhood, to Starbucks, to pick up lunch. We've also now eaten out at restaurants a few times, with him either in a carseat or in a carrier. We are lucky that he loves being in carriers (we use the K'tan and the Beco Butterfly II) and his stroller, though. In the end we gave up and now we only use the Ergo with the insert and it's great! I don't have to worry about finding elevators everywhere anymore and I can keep her close to me and away from people wanting to touch her. Totally recommend it, it's like strapping on instant freedom! He was in his car seat and mostly asleep. I took him to a pharmacy in the stroller at about a week old? And to an open house in the moby at 10 days old. Honestly, the fresh air is good for baby and you, and as long as people aren't breathing over her and you're in a ventilated place (so not public transportation or a small stuffy store) she is totally fine!! If she's not happy in the stroller, definitely wear her--the ergo and insert can be used from newborn, and she'll probably like being cozy in there. Same for the k'tan! We took him out the very next day to a restaurant, and went out pretty much every day after that to a restaurant or store - even did some sight seeing. LO is jumbo sized so she was big enough to wear early on.
