I don't feel jealous but I kind of just make note of it and think oh that's something to look forward to! I try to focus on what he's working on and achieving at the present time instead of what he could be doing or what might come next.

@googly-eyes: I did, for the first 6 months, then I realized that every baby is SO individualized that there's no way I could keep doing that to myself (or him). I (we!) have such limited time with them that I try to just be in the moment. That's not to say that I never feel that way, I'm just saying that I TRY not to. :)

@googly-eyes: I feel the same way. I know lots of other babies around A's age that are more advanced. We go out a lot, and I hope that seeing new things is as important for his development as "doing" things. I hold A a lot because he likes it and it calms him down.

I really don't believe in that kind of stress, so I try to opt out of it as much as possible. My daughter didn't walk until 16 months, and I started feeling a little jealousy when kids three or four months younger than her would do it. But I knew she was almost there, and that she was well within 'normal', so I didn't stress.

It's hard but I really focus on trying to honor their LOs achievements (unless they get super annoying about it!)

@bao and then I also wonder, whether when I'm with her I should be holding her like I often am (at least lately) or doing other things more..

@googly-eyes: Yup. All the time. LO isn't crawling yet and all her friends are (she is 8 months), so it makes me wonder if I am spending enough time doing things with her, like you. The thing is I KNOW I give her enough time, and she needs independent time and I need to pee and eat throughout the day too. Every baby goes at their own pace and that is what I need to remind myself. :) so no, you are not alone.

Does it bug you?

I have to admit it sometimes bothers me, just because I worry that C is behind. She's almost 8 months and just figured out how to get to the sitting position (although she could sit up before.) She's very mobile as in she gets everywhere but not crawling in any form (unless you count scooting backwards and in circles, lol.) I feel like maybe I don't pay enough attention to her or I should be more actively teaching her things. She doesn't sign (we haven't attempted) or do lots of the things I hear of babies around her age doing. She just sort of goes with the flow and babbles and rolls around and puts everything in her mouth. Sometimes I get the feeling I'm just spending too much time cleaning/cooking/running errands/now doing stuff for grad school, and not enough time with her. But then I'm supposed to get that stuff done too right? I try to do grad school stuff only when she's sleeping...

Then I have to remind myself that it's all normal and I'm being silly.

But just for a second I get that worried feeling.

Anyone else?
