No sleep training while sick. Vicks on feet with socks, cold most humidifier, saline spray and/or saline decongestant spray.

Eta; I'd bring to pedi. My kids would always start out with a cold and almost always develop an ear infection. For me, if rather err on being overly cautious when they are so young.

Well we are definitely not sleep training, he is asleep on my chest and I think will be for the rest of the night. He'll only sleep in the crib 15 minutes before not being able to breathe and freaking out. Used saline drops, nose Frieda, sat in the steamy bathroom, baby Vicks on chest and feet, and still he can only breathe for 15 minutes max while lying down (on a propped up mattress!). I'm so sad for him :(

Oh and my best cold solutions include the graco nasal aspirator (nose frieda requires filters and is difficult to use on a squirmy baby), vicks vapor rub on chest and feet, vaporizer with kaz inhalant, children's tylenol every 4 hours, tons of pedialyte!

We stopped sleep training while DS was sick, which unfortunately went on for months thanks to day care! It wasn't too bad though, it just meant one wakeup at 3-4am, but man were we excited to drop that once he got better!

Yep, I'd hold the sleep training until he's better.
For colds, we used Coryzalia drops (homeopathic), infant Tylenol, a nose-sucker, sitting in a steamy bathroom/bath tub, humidifier in her room, elevating one end of the crib to help with coughing. And lots of snuggles for poor baby- colds are the worst!

I would definitely wait on the sleep training until he is healthy and feeling well. Agree, he may really need some extra comfort right now.

For colds: nosefrida, humidifier, tylenol...and waiting it out.

This post is going to be a little all over the place....
My son (18 wks) has his first cold. So far it isn't too bad - he is congested when he lies down but ok when he is upright, and no fever.
We started sleep training a few night ago & he still cries quite a bit - last night he went to sleep okay but woke after 45 min, cried for 30 min, back to sleep and up again with some minimal crying a couple more times. I now think those extra wake ups were due to him coming down with this cold, because usually after one wakeup he is down until feeding at 3/4am.
So I have a few questions. Sleep training should stop until he's better, right? He's so spluttery and congested, I can't add crying into that mix! For naps I've been letting him sleep on me. This week he's had shots, he's sprouted two teeth, been sleep trained and now has this cold - the kid needs some cuddles, I think.
Also, what have you done for colds? My heart breaks for him as it's the first time he's been sick. What do you do for your sad & congested babies?
Thanks for any advice you have :)
