My parents actually gave him a fire house for Christmas that they saved to set up until DD arrived (when he stayed with them, he was SO excited to play with it). Gave #1 a present "from the baby!" I think it helped - they didn't have any problems with DD#1 feeling left out. They both got Waldorf dolls (similar, but not identical). Lorelei's was smaller. We didn't really have Lorelei give the doll to Ellie (Ellie was 5, I think we might have said it was "from baby" if she had been a little younger), but we did say it was a big sister gift, and then she brought Lorelei's to the hospital for her. So we didn't do anything like that. This time around, she is going to be closer to 4, so we might do something like that. I do try to make sure she is actively involved with picking stuff for the new baby, like we will go and have her pick out an outfit or something.
