At first it was just giving her some ingredients and utensils to explore with and taste. Now she helps with real cooking tasks, scooping lard onto a spoon to grease a pan, sprinking salt and pepper on things, kneading dough... I try to keep it low key, make sure it's something she can have success with (so if I'm whisking and she wants to but I can't afford to have her spill half without messing up the recipe I might just give her a whisk and some flour in a bowl to work with), and not have too many expectations. We have fun cooking together. Ellie isn't too terribly interested, but she will always show up if there is a bowl or spoon to lick! And now she has to help whenever I bake. I let her pour ingredients in, mix, mash, and she's great at buttering muffin tins :)</p> <p>We started with just pulling up a little night stand to the counter and having her watch me. He's also gotten up on a stool and helped me stir things. We started around 14 months?
