@pui: I'm keeping my FX that your temps stay up. In case they don't, though, my thoughts would be not to ask for a higher dosage or any more Clomid until you're able to get proper monitoring and also until you've had a real period. It would be a huge bummer to feel like you have to wait even longer, but it will all be worth it to get things straightened out and not risk your health. Hugs!

@pui: PLEASE take this advice! I was on clomid about a year ago by my OBGYN I was not monitored except for a 21 day progestrone blood test, each time it supposively showed that I did O! But.......a year later my RE said those 4 months I was on it could have been a waste due to the fact that even if I did O clomid surpresses estrogen so ot can at times make your linning weak and your CM hostile to sperm :/......soooo he said to truly be sure it is working you need to take it and have an ultrasound on day 1 of the pills and again 2 days after the last pill to compare, chexk follicle sizes and linning, then do blood work on day 21 to check for ovulation!!!! Please advocate for yourself and ask for the 21day blood work up, or if at best an ultrsound next cycle too if need be!!!!!

@pui: is this your first month on it? I was not monitored. Both myself and my bf got pregnant the 2nd month of clomid. I didn't even take it for 2 months but could tell it was still in my system due to the ovulation pains and side effects.

@pui: I think you should call and at least get your doctor to schedule you for the 21 day Progesterone test. It is just a simple blood test, no need for an RE for it. They should be able to tell you within a day or two after the test if your progesterone levels indicate you O'd (I believe it's a level of 10 or higher for a regular cycle, 15 or higher for medicated cycle), so there will be no guessing on your part. Good luck!

@spaniellove: It is possible I O'd... but I am remaining skeptical because so far the temps don't seem that different from what I experienced earlier (as you can see by my overlayed charts) where I never O'd).

@Shutterbug: Yes I am in Canada. My doctor (GP) has already put in a referral to for me with an RE, but said it can take 3 weeks or so before they call me back. It took my DH a month before they scheduled a colonoscopy for him (and he was a little urgent considering they found cancerous polyps in both his sister and his father) and then it took another 2 months to his appointment... then 2 weeks to the results. Ugh.

@Shutterbug: I would guess that at a 7dpo check (around day 21?) you could figure out if the Clomid is working or not.

@pui: Looking at your chart, it seems like you might have ovulated yesterday? But you wouldn't get crosshairs until you have 3 temps above the coverline. Not sure about the +OPKs.

@Dandelion: really? So if you didn't O by like, day 14 then they induced your period? That just seems strange to me, because even on Clomid I didn't ovulate until day 17 (minimum).

My monitoring (this cycle) was blood work (progesterone, E2, LH) and ultrasound on day 12, day 14, and day 15. Then I O'ed on day 17.

@spaniellove: I agree. @pui: are you in Canada? Is that why you have to wait for a referral? I think you should be as pushy as you're comfortable being, because I do think you need to work with an RE who will monitor your reaction to the Clomid (or other meds if needed).

Yeah, you should be monitored. When I was on Clomid, a few days after I was supposed to O, I went in to get my progesterone levels checked to see if it happened. If not, they prescribed me provera and upped my Clomid dosage.

@pui: While there's always the chance that it's just taking a while to kick in, I have to admit that after reading your posts I've been growing more and more resentful of your doctor for refusing to induce AF and then throwing Clomid at you in the middle of a really long cycle without monitoring. What he is doing to you is not right.

@MrsCB: I was but not regularly. My body would try and try but never follow through. My cycles were 60ish days. I agree that it is different for everyone, and based on that its important to try and stay positive while trying to trust your doctor. It's so easy to be pulled down during the infertility journey.

@ladybee: You were ovulating already, right? I feel like for people who ovulate and just need a little boost, then unmonitored Clomid has a better chance of working. For people that don't ovulate at all without medication, I think the monitoring is more important.

@pui: Yes, the cycle I got pregnant I did Femara @ 7mg, which I responded to right away (no need to up the dose which is good since that was the highest my RE would do) and then we added a few doses of Gonal-F (injection) too, closer to when I ovulated. Maybe CD10-15ish? I O'd on CD15, which is the earlier of all the cycles I did. Most were CD28+.

@pui: Yes, same cycle. In a way it was good to see what it would take for me to respond, and I didn't have to wait a whole cycle to try another dose. But I blame my CP on the fact that it took so long to get an egg to ovulate, that it just wasn't healthy.

@pui: Back when I first started all this, I was really frustrated at my GYN for not just giving me an rx for Clomid and sending me on my way. I saw so many people on WB start Clomid and BAM! get pregnant. But after seeing how I respond to the drugs (which in some cases is not at all) I realize how necessary the monitoring can be.

Push your primary dr for a referral ASAP. Giving someone Clomid without monitoring is bordering on irresponsible IMO. You can only take it so many times, and if they're not monitoring you and you don't respond right away, you've basically wasted an opportunity.

Are you being monitored? I had a tough time responding to Clomid and if they had just given it to me and said good luck, I would've been SOL. I took it CD3-7, and went back for monitoring a few days later, maybe CD10? Then again a few days later, ~CD13. They would realize the dose didn't work and have me start again on a higher dose. A week later I would go back for more monitoring.

The first cycle on Clomid we did this 3 times - 50mg, 100mg, and 150mg. I finally ovulated and it resulted in a CP. The cycle after that we started at a higher dose and I think did it twice before my RE said it wasn't going to work at all.

If I hadn't been being monitored it would've wasted so much more time. And FYI, I had something similar happen with Femara - started at 5mg (the middle dose) and then did 7, which I responded to.

I would just wait and see if you are pregnant or get your period. I know for some women being on Clomid skews their temps so they find it hard to chart. If you do get your period, then 50mg worked to make you ovulate, but I would ask for better monitoring. It would cost more but it's better to know what's going on.

I'm still holding out hope that I have or am about to O on 50mg Clomid, but just in case: when can I be pretty sure that Clomid is not going to work?

I took the pills CD5-CD9... I heard it can take something like 5-10 days for Clomid to make you O. Does this mean by like CD22 if I have seen no steady temp rise I should consider this dosage of Clomid to be a bust?

Just trying to figure out how soon I can call my doctor to get a higher dosage if it doesn't work.

Here are my charts for fun: http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/pui
