I first heard and saw the heartbeat at 7 weeks 4 days, but this was at the perinatal department at the hospital. Their machines are much more sophisticated. Doctor tried to find it w/ the doppler at my 10 weeks appt, but couldn't find it. Luckily he had mobile U/S machine so we could see it on that. When I called to schedule my first appointments for my pregnancy, they scheduled them at 8 weeks and 9 weeks and I was told that at my 9 week appointment, we'd hear the heartbeat and that's the appointment my husband should go to.</p> <p>I had my first appointment today, and the nurse I spoke to told me that you can't actually hear the heartbeat until 12 weeks and that I wouldn't be getting an ultrasound at all at my next appointment. So now I'm just confused!</p> <p>When were you able to hear the heartbeat for the first time? </p>
