@peachykeen: Yea, we've been proactively taking her. She doesn't tell us when she has to go. DS was the opposite but he was 6 months older than DD1 is now. With DS it clicked right away and he was able to tell us when he had to go. DD1 will go when we take her sometimes but other times will sit and say she doesn't need to go.... then 10-15 minutes later have an accident.

@catlady: Yes, we started 2 days ago. And it feels all new to me to know what to do. DS was much easier and was night and nap trained within a week as well. I just can't help feeling like she isn't getting it. It's a little hard to be on top of it with 3 kids and me doing it on my own right now. I guess I just need to stick with taking her a lot and seeing how it goes.

To confirm, she just started 2 days ago? Definitely give her more time, this sounds very normal. We prompted very frequently for at least a week (maybe 2, hard to remember). I think by about a month into it, we could rely on her to tell us fairly consistently when she had to go but even now, we prompt her if she doesn't go for awhile. We trained about 3 months ago and she still has accidents maybe once per week but usually when she is very distracted and forgets to go.

We just potty trained in July, so this is fresh for me

We actually never proactively took her, but we would ask her if she had to go if it had been a while (or if she was sitting on our couch - ah!) We let her run around without undies on for the first day or two and by day 3 she was getting pretty good about recognizing she needed to go and telling us.

Now when it comes to poop, I think she still sometimes waits too long, so that one is not perfect yet... :bummed:

DD1 is 2.5 years old and just decided the other day she wanted to wear underwear. She started mid-day on Tuesday and did ok considering it was the first time. Yesterday morning she didn't have any accidents but I was the one telling her when to go. Yesterday afternoon we had to go somewhere and that completely screwed it all up. She had some accidents and didn't want to use a big toilet. Now today she woke up with a wet diaper and we switched to underwear. She peed once when I made her go and then also had an accident about 10 minutes after having her try again... I'm questioning if she is actually ready or not?

When you potty trained, how long did it take for your lo to tell you when they had to go vs you taking them every so many minutes?
