My 2.5 year old can’t yet but that’s intentional on our part. My experience in three different preschools is that it was introduced in the second half of the year in 2’s classroom. Then I got a call from preschool while at work that she cut her bangs. We were trying to grow them out, but she decided she was tired of them being in her eyes. My older girls got relatively trustworthy with them around 4-5, and at 6 and 8 are pretty good with them, but still couldn't cut out anything too detailed (like complicated snowflakes, for example). The 8 year old is becoming more precise recently. My 3.5 year old really can't even make a pair of scissors work.</p> <p>When I was in kindergarten, my teacher had to send home remedial cutting dittos for me to practice with at home. I walked in on my friends dd, when she was around my daughters age, cutting all her hair off. A little after 3 independently, but it was still just random cuts/shreds.
