I was dilated 1 cm and pretty well effaced in the weeks leading up to my due date but NO progress- just stayed that way. A few days before my due date I started losing my mucous plug. The day before my due date I had a few mild contractions (I know that now, but then I wasn't sure.) On my due date I had contractions that I could tell were contractions (sort of like menstural cramps, came and went, but nothing bad at all) and tracked them. They were very far apart and got to be close together throughout the day, by the time I got to the hospital around 6 or so they were worse, by 8 ish they were excruciating! Had her at 7:28 the next AM!

I started losing my plug at the end of October (due date was November 4). At my OB appointment on Nov 6, I was 50% effaced and a fingertip dilated. My water broke and baby was born on November 10 at 40 weeks 6 days.

39+1, I lost my mucus plug and my water broke not long after. I had false labor a couple nights before (period-like cramping) but it stopped once I went to bed. The day it happened, I had no other symptoms, no contractions or cramping until I got into the car, then things happened very fast.

I lost my mucus plug about ten days before labor started. I had no other signs of labor at all and actually had an induction scheduled. I ended up going into labor on my own at 9:30pm on my due date. The first two contractions were 4 minutes apart and they never slowed down from there. Baby was born 12 hours later.

@MCD919: I feel the same way. I'm 37+5 and my OB told me almost the same yesterday: I'm about 90% effaced and 1cm dilated. She also told me she could touch his head, that everything looks good but that I shouldn't plan on having him early. She said she'd guess I'll have him a few days late...

39 weeks 5 days. I had had a few contractions here and ther but not much. My midwives didn't do checks until after 40 weeks so I don't know if I was dilated or anything. Woke up Sunday morning having mild contractions- felt just like period cramps but they would come and go. After they kept happening and got stronger I thought it was the real deal but also was still convinced I would go past my due date.

Labor ended up being a slow and steady progression- woke up at 6:30 with the mild contractions, steadily for more intense but didn't really get painful for more than 12 hours after that. Once they got intense it went fairly quickly though.

I went into labor at 37+5. I had no idea I was in labor until my water broke. Looking back all the signs were there. I thought I was having BH contractions the day before because we were busy most of the day. My back hurt but I had put on 55lbs so I just thought it was that. I couldn't sit still, walking around made me feel better. Then I woke up at 1:30 am and felt a little pop. I started leaking some fluid and was in the bathroom for almost 2 hours going #2. When the contractions really took off we left for the hospital.

I had period-like cramps the evening before she was born. I woke up at 2.00 am that night and puked and had the runs...
Four hours later (at 6.00 am), I was definitely in labor.
I never saw a mucus plug and my water didn't break until I was almost 9 cm.

39w4d. I lost my mucus plug on 39w2d (a Sunday) and woke up at 7am with back contractions on Tuesday. I was 50% effaced and a "loose 2cm" at my appointment on the previous Friday.

My contractions started out around 20 minutes apart and only lasting 20-30 seconds and weren't super painful, just painful enough that I couldn't sleep. I didn't even identify them as contractions for several hours. They sloooowly got closer together during the day, but it was a long labor and he wasn't born until early Wednesday afternoon.

38 weeks + 4 days with my first and 39 weeks + 1 day with my second. Both times I went into labor a few days after my first cervical check. With my first I didn't feel BH. I had my bloody show and then felt period cramps within an hour. Early labor lasted the whole day. With my second I had a lot of BH and regular contractions too leading up to labor. My mucus plug also came out slowly.

For those of you who went into labor naturally, when did it start? What did early labor feel like? Any symptoms or things happen leading up to it? I'll be 38 weeks tomorrow.... I think I might've lost part of my mucus plug last week TMI alert: 2-3 large globs of ewcm/ jello-like discharge, followed by very thin, liquidy ewcm all this week. At my appt this week, Dr says I'm 1cm and 50% effaced, and she can touch the head through my cervix (!) I know all of this could mean something or likely nothing, as women stay this way for weeks. Just looking to hear your stories... getting antsy!!!
