@Fronkinzankinsbride: This makes me feel better! M is 13 months and doesn't clap. She waves, points, all sorts of things. She's just not interested in clapping :(

My nannykiddo is 13 months and still doesn't really clap. Around maybe 9-10 months he excitedly started swinging his arms like he would if he was clapping but not really clapping with his hands. He uses signs, waves, and clasps his hands together but clapping just didn't catch on no matter how much I tried.

Pete has absolutely no interest in clapping yet. I think he'll wave first because he at least attempts to wave back when I wave at him. When I clap, he just smiles like I've told the most hilarious joke....

At 8 mos she started clapping with closed fists lol. Kinda defeats the purpose! I don't really clap that much at her so maybe I should! She only does it at our music class.

@MsLipGloss: @Smurfette: sometimes I just don't understand them. M knows what sign goes with what word (if you say more she signs it, same with all done) but she doesn't seem to really know what it means. Because sometimes she'll sign all done and toss her food, but other times she'll sign all done and then reach for more food.

@Smurfette: They definitely will let you know when they're done. When my LO was really young, she would start scrunching her food, then she moved onto shaking her head. Now she will either shake her head or tell me she's done. But i usually have to ask her (if i notice that she's playing with her food or not wanting to eat).

she started clapping late, maybe 12 or 13 months? she started trying at 9 months but would hold her hands together and move them up and down. Now she claps allll the time.

@Smurfette: My LO also does a face scrunch, holds her hands in front of her face, gives the windshield wiper treatment (or bombs away treatment) to any remaining food on her tray, or pushes away the food (if I am trying to feed her), or any combination thereof. The *all done* is not always communicated! :P

They started clapping around 9.5 months. They'll clap whenever we say "yay" now and T also claps during diaper changes (weird).

At 10 months, they'll sometimes wave, but haven't gotten the whole hang of it.

All of the sudden, at 10 months exactly he started raising his arms and putting his hands together. I wouldn't call it clapping but he is definitely trying to mimic us! Same thing with waving too, all of the sudden he is trying to wave back.

@MamaMoose: my LO's all done also looks like a two-handed wave . . . although she usually follows it up with a slight shove on her tray--or a big frown and *enough arredy woman* looks when I try to get her to take another bite-- so there is that too.
