But I read a lot that said not to assume that is what's happening just because of his age. It could just be normal developmental sleep disturbances. So both times I kept things consistent with minor tweaks and he went back to his same 2 naps that he's had since 8 months, maybe with an extra half hour of awake time between.<br /> Now at 17 months I think he really is getting ready. I experimented with shortening his morning nap from 1.5 hrs to 30 mins and he wakes up happy from that, and now takes a monster 2-3 hour nap midday. Like, totally conked out and dead to the world, doesn't even move once. So I'm taking that as a sign that the morning nap is on its way out. Will keep the short half hour in the mornin as long as I can (coffee! R is 14 months and seems to very much need 2 naps when he wakes before 7. If he wakes after 7 it seems that he bucks his second nap. Today he woke at 5, but then went back to sleep until 7:30.....and then napped 1015-1145....but refused his afternoon nap. EARLY bedtime. </p>
