My Dd was the same with paci. She was teething around 1 and didn't want it so I jumped in the opportunity and just took it. It was super easy!

Our LO loved her paci and used it all the time, a month after her second birthday we went away on a trip and when we got back to our house I just said that they were all gone and that we forgot them at Nana's house. I hid all of them, but occasionally she would find one and so "Oh it's B", then I would take it away and hid it and say "bye B".

It was surprisingly easier than I thought since she loved those things and used it way more than sleeping. But she just let them go and it made me realize that she was ready for it to go and it was us as parents that didn't want to take the big step!

Also, we took away after 2 because it seemed like her top teeth were pushing forward and it really freaked me out!

Good luck!

My LO is only 8 months and still uses hers for naps and bedtime but we plan to quit by 12 months. Our daycare doesn't allow them in the 12 month + rooms.

LO uses it for naps and night time sleep, and in the car for naps. He's 13 months, and I don't know how to break him of it, but he sleeps well at night so I don't want to rock the boat!! (knock on wood)

she uses it for sleep only at almost 2, and says goodbye to it every morning when she wakes up. We'll probably let her keep it another year? Definitely going to wait until she moves her to big girl room, since it's a comfort to her and we see no reason to take it away just yet.

We took Xander's away at 11m because of this - he wasn't using it at daycare and didn't seem super dependent on it and he only ever had it for sleeping anyway, so we just took it away. No issues!

We took Logan's away at 8m because of the same thing - he wasn't using it at daycare and didn't even really seem to care for it that much at home either, so we just removed it.

2.5, and we went to visit my parents for 10 days and I just told her I didn't bring them. She asked for it once and that was that. It went sooo much easier than I expected! But, she'd only been using it for night and naps at home. She hadn't used one for naps at daycare in a long time.

2.5...we cut the tip and told him it was broken. It was not as bad as I thought--and he had been addicted!

@knittylady: I'm scared DD will become addicted too! She now always grabs it and put it in her mouth when she sees one and doesn't let me pull it back out!

DD is almost 1, and while she does use a paci, she isn't really dependent on it, meaning she does not absolutely need it to fall/stay asleep. So I'm wondering if I should just remove them cold turkey.

When did LO(s) wean? What did you do?
