Right after her first birthday is when I started buying mostly shirts instead of onesies. I like the onesies when they're still crawling because they don't ride up. But once they're up walking around, shirts are easier.

Not until he was about one. And now at 16 months (this week!) it's about half and half. I would keep him in one pieces as long as I could but he's on the bigger end and already in 24 months (the biggest they make). :(

I did not like separates without a bodysuit underneath until the girls were out of the crawling stage - otherwise they ended up with a scrunched up shirt and a bare belly.

I continued to use onesies as winter layering pieces under separates once they were walking until they potty trained (around 2.5 and 18 months, respectively). In the summer, I did mostly rompers - but I had girls, and can understand how you might not like the romper look on a boy much more than a year old.

I just started to incorporate t-shirts now @ 9 months. I like onesies in the winter so his back isn't exposed.

I love footed pjs. My older son refused to wear them @ a year. He didn't like them on his feet. I still have the baby in them.

Re: sizing, babies grow at different rates. My first kid moved sizes quickly, but slowed once he reached 18 month sizing @ 10 months old. My younger baby flew through baby clothes and just moved into 24 month size at 9 months old. I'm thinking he will slow down now that he's on the move.

I thought t-shirts were nice for the summer because I thought they'd be cooler than onesies. My kids were closer to a year, though.

Clothes wise, we started having separates probably as early as 6 months and I'd say by 12 months size we were out of separates except for winter fleece stuff where it's warmer to have her in a one piece without gaps.

PJs wise, didn't introduce 2 piece till 18 months (a little earlier than that since she wore 18 months at 12 months). She has Dec bday so we waited till late spring/summer last year to put her in cotton 2 pc. And this winter at 2 she got fleece 2 pc but occasionally still wears 1 pc for really cold nights

My LO2 is 6 months now but mostly wearing 12-18 month cloths. He will be in T-shirts and a cloth diaper most of the summer. LO1 was a feb baby and also switches to mostly separates young because I got tired of him out growing everything. My kids have flown through sizes..... it's crazy.

Starting at 2T we made the jump. He's still mostly in 24 month stuff, but his spring clothes at 2T and it is so much easier. The one thing is I'd wait until walking, if possible. Otherwise their belly is always showing. But my 13 month old isn't walking and us just rocking the mid drift on sunny days :-)

We stopped using onesies around 7 or 8 months, and also switched mostly to 2 piece pjs around that time. She was solidly crawling and had just started to pull to stand and cruise. The less snaps the better at that point.

As far as sizing goes, yup, many babies slow down on growth around then. My kiddo basically skipped 9 month sized clothes, because she needed 12 month length due to a long torso.

We are just transitioning to separate shirts and pants now at 16.5 months. I still prefer onesies but he has almost outgrown his 24 month onesies 😩
He still wears one piece zip up jams and probably will for a long time.

I stuck with onesies until she started spending most of her day vertical (so, walking). Before that, the shirts would ride up when she crawled.

I started incorporating tshirts more around 6mo, but when they get more mobile around 9-10mo is when I really start to not care for onesies since it's just another step to have to get them snapped together.

My daughter is 17 months and has just stopped wearing footie one piece pjs and that's only because it's getting a bit warmer at night so I have her in two pieces with no socks in her sleep sack. She has been wearing onesies forever and still does. She's skinny and it helps her pants stay up and I don't love her belly showing or being cold. She started walking at 11 months and I don't mind them that much. Sometimes it's a pain for diapers, but I just like putting them under her t-shirts or sweaters. She won't wear them this summer probably so that's when I'll stop buying them I assume.

The 6-12 month thing depends on your baby. Sometimes babies shoot through them and some don't! For length my daughter went through stuff fast and has been in 18 month pants and 12-18 minutes leggings since 12 months. Shirts she is anywhere from 12-18 month to 2T. Baby clothes are so crazy and all over the place. Two pieces are easier to put on wriggly kids than a one piece though!

I did onesies with my little boy until close to two. I liked them under things in the winter. This is something that is really dependent on the kid and whoever is dressing them, I think. We were given onesies up to 9 months sizes and I was just used to them so I continued.

I think B was 18 months before I switched mostly to separates, but he was born in January and I liked the onesies through the winter so I knew his tummy was always covered in the winter.

I'm ordering some summer clothes online for LO who is 4 months. So far he's only ever worn sleepers and onesies with pants. I see a bunch of cute t-shirts (i.e. not onesies/bodysuits) and also non-footie separate PJ's... wondering when you started dressing LO's in separates? Is there a certain point when onesies or footie pajamas don't work well anymore?

ETA: Follow-up question... sizes seem to jump from 0-3, 3-6, to 6-12 (i.e. from 3 month spans, to 6 month spans). Is that because they grow at a slower rate during those 6 months? Can't imagine him fitting in the same clothes for that long, right now it feels like he's a new size every few weeks!
