@mrsjyw: Ha nice! We sent 6 oz of breastmilk + formula to daycare this morning. And lookie there, I pumped about 6 oz today at work (finishing up my last session now!)

i pumped three times today, 15 oz total. LO ate 3x at home 15 oz total (funny how that works.)

i ordered a free offbrand electric pump through myinsurance today to make it easier as @CarrieLouWho: suggested! :D

thanks ladies!

probably six weeks in. then i was about ready to quit pumping, go full formula, and then started having formula issues and found my pumping groove again. so at least a couple months...

My system has only gotten easier because I got a 2nd pump and leave it at work mostly hooked up and ready to go (thanks to insurance I was able to get a pump for "free").
So I have one at home and one at work. It makes pump time go a few minutes faster since I don't have to hook up. I have my own pump room though at work that no one else uses, so that's a blessing.

@PurpleUnicorn: Pumping at 3 months on is tough. If it was at a year, it would be smooth sailing since the baby would mainly be on solids and with cow's milk. I pump to make sure that he's got enough milk for daycare. During my day pumps, I'm producing less than what he needs, so it's not easy. I wish I could do more pumping sessions, but it's so time consuming, I'm lucky if I can get 2 sessions in during the day.

@MsLipGloss: that makes sense. I guess I will see when i go back to work, although since L will be a year by then, I am hoping I won't need to and just pump/nurse in the mornings and evenings before and after work. I admire the dedication all you moms show by pumping so much at work when you have to go back to work so early.

@MsLipGloss: agree! i've been pumping at home for quite some time, but it's a whole different ball game at work. at home, i'd pump, throw whatever i got in the freezer or fridge and just done one big pile of baby dishes whenever i felt like it. at work, setup-cleanup is a whirlwind tedious process!

@PurpleUnicorn: Pumping at home versus pumping at work was a completely different experience for me . . . even though I pump in my private office there is still a lack of privacy, needing to hit a certain amount of ounces to *break even* for the next day, time/focus contraints, schlepping parts to and from work (and hoping you haven't forgotten any major parts/pieces) . . . the list goes on and on.

@MrsJYW: Probably about 6 weeks of pumping every day (5 days a week) . . . There is only so much you can streamline in the sense that it takes the amount of time that it takes.

I've been pumping at work for 8.5 months now and it's pretty second nature to me now. I've got my system down to a science. It probably took a couple of months to get into a groove. Don't get me wrong, I still don't like pumping, but it has become a normal part of my work day now. It will feel weird to have my full lunch hour back when I'm done.

@mediagirl: Yep, I've been doing it for three months and it's still an epic pain. I'll be working from home more in the future, so it'll be in the comfort of my own home.

i am not working yet, but i do pump a bottle every morning just for the heck of it and i would say it became second nature after a couple of weeks. Also, once it increased my supply, i would wake up with full breasts and i could pump 5 oz from one side in 10 minutes sometimes! plus, after a couple of weeks, it became second nature to hook everything up.

It's been 5 months now and it is still as annoying as ever. The practice of it all got easier (set up, hook up, pump, break down) but it's still a drag.

today's my first day at work. i'm only going to be in the office 2x a week and working remote the rest of the week, so i'm not complaining, but i just got done pumping for the first time and took nearly 30 min from setup-being back at my desk.

when did pumping at work become easier for you?
