It makes pump time go a few minutes faster since I don't have to hook up. If it was at a year, it would be smooth sailing since the baby would mainly be on solids and with cow's milk. I pump to make sure that he's got enough milk for daycare. During my day pumps, I'm producing less than what he needs, so it's not easy. I've got my system down to a science. It probably took a couple of months to get into a groove. Don't get me wrong, I still don't like pumping, but it has become a normal part of my work day now.
