Just started this past week for us an LO is 8mo. He is basically lunging out of everyones arms into mine and whines when I leave the room.

@littlek: SO funny - my dog follows me to the bathroom too - I haven't peed alone for a year and a half if you count puppy company :)

@littlek: I have a stalker too...

Little C started his separation anxiety around 6 months, and it is just starting to abate around 9 months and change, although not entirely.

I definitely don't pee alone, and can't imagine that I will for a while...good luck!

She was doing this for about a few weeks starting at 5 months, but I haven't seen it happen in the last week, and we have seen a variety of different (and new) people. I hope it's over!

It's going on now at 8 months. It was worse earlier this month. She really doesn't like me leaving the room. She is distracted enough at daycare that it doesn't bother her there, though.

Is it possible for it to start at just 7 weeks?? Within the last few days, my LO will cry when anyone holds her, but me. This includes DH and both sets of grandparents (whom she has seen on almost a daily basis since she was born). This morning I left to run some errands and my mom said she cried the entire time I was gone (about 2 hours). The second I walked in and picked her up, she was fine?! It's draining and worries the grandparents as they're the ones who will be watching her when I return to work!

I think at 5 months we are getting a touch of it. She's fine with strangers until she sees me then she has to be with me. She doesn't even want to be with DH if I'm in the room. It's a little frustrating at times when I'm trying to clean or cook, I make him take her downstairs. Sometimes "out of sight, out of mind" works with her at this age.

DS (7 months) has waves of it which just started recently. He'll cry sometimes if I'm not in his sight, but he can't crawl yet so he's not following me into the bathroom! He cried this weekend when a random aunt held him, but that was her fault too - he had just woken up from a long car ride and didn't give him a chance to warm up at the party we were at.

It started at 3 months and is still going strong at 5 months. A's Doctor was impressed that it already started lol. I'm starting to get a little frustrated by it now because she won't even go to DH anymore she just wants me all the time. It's super hard to get anything done around the house.

He's a little more clingy the past month or so - follows me around the house and always wants attention. But he never cries when I leave him at daycare or if others pick him up. He's 9.5 months.

Ours started the day he turned 6 months. We went out for sushi with my extended family and he was a mess unless I was holding him. It lasted for 4 months (sorry!). He still follows me around the house and into the bathroom though.

I've read that separation anxiety comes in waves. I think it peaks around 9 months and again around 18 months?

It started for us at 6.5 months and lasted a few weeks. It occasionally still rears its head, but it's not much of an issue anymore. I spent a week at home, babywearing and completely giving into her whims. After that, I was able to back off and it got better pretty quickly.

My LO has been the same way since he started crawling. He pretty much stalks me. This morning when I was getting ready for work he followed me around the bathroom and then when I would stop he would tug at my legs trying to get me to hold him.

And how long did it last?

DS had a total meltdown at breakfast with my ILs today. He was a little fussy so FIL decided to walk around with him on the upstairs loft of the restaurant. He's done it every time we've gone (it has a cool huge train up there) and E's never minded before...half the time he's fallen asleep on FIL's shoulder. Today, though, they were barely up there a minute or two and suddenly from across the restaurant I hear the loudest, most agonizing scream. And it's not stopping. So of course I run up there, apologizing to other customers on the way, and as soon as DS sees me he lets out an even bigger cry and tries to lunge out of FIL's arms. I took him back and he cried for another minute or two, completely clutching me. And then he was all smiles.

He hasn't let me out of his sight since he started crawling. I left him on the floor in the living room while I went to pee and before I even finished he was in the bathroom with me. I went to get a cup of water earlier and he followed me into the kitchen. My ILs were over today and thought it was hilarious that when I went to the bathroom he immediately crawled and sat outside the door, whining, until I came out.

Does this sound like separation anxiety? DS is about 7 months old, it seems a little early? How long does this stage last? Am I ever going to be able to pee alone again?
