I was surprised it fell off so soon. It didn't smell and we didn't clean it either. No one told us to. We were told not to touch it. DS was born in TX, we were told to use alcohol swabs. For both, I didn't touch it. I think DS's ended up falling off by 2 weeks old. I think I remembered hearing something about that - but like there wasn't enough to remember as it was! I used warm water and a q tip and a tea steep that my midwife gave me. He had to have some silver stuff put on the base to help dry it out. It never had any stick issues or oozing. She asked if anybody had told us how to clean it and didn't seem surprised when I said no. It bled a little once he lost it but the on-call nurse said it was normal. I called our pediatric advice nurse and she said that it was all normal, to call if anything changes, we get red streaks, etc.</p> <p>When did your LO lose their cord?
