Actually! I remember something like this! I remember slapping my inner thigh on one leg and not having feeling. I think it lasted a 2-3weeks. I remember this because I kept tellin people (DH, mom...) and everyone seemed so child about it, while I was really worried.

I had total feeling back in my legs before delivering. My initial epidural didn't work and the second one helped but I had total control over my legs. Weirdly, I had a numb patch on my upper right hand side of my back until LO was 10- months old. My skin felt numb (just surface level) and sometimes I would get an electrical like sensation in that area. For this reason, I'm considering not getting an epidural with baby #2 (I'm due in 7 weeks).

@spaniellove: I had a strip that ran down the top middle of my left thigh (from my leg crease to about a third of the way down my thigh, about 2 inches wide) that was numb for well over a year . . . in the beginning, I would have sharp burning pains when I would roll over to that side, and that spot would tingle . . . the burning sensations finally stopped (at about 4 months pp I think), but the numbness lasted until well after LO's first birthday.

My numbness was totally gone by the time skin to skin was over. But it was only ever effective on one side, so I was able to move me left leg around the whole time---I was up and walking to the bathroom within...1-2 hours? Never had any issues after that.

I had 3 failed epidurals but they all took effect for a while, and each time I was numb to the point where I could not even move my legs at all. I had numb/tingling sensations in one part of one thigh for weeks afterwards. But it faded. The anesthesiologists kept an eye on it while I was in the hospital but they said it was common.

My right thigh was numb for about 6 weeks or so, I think. It was really weird it was numb just to touch it on the surface, it wasn't a very deep feeling, I guess you could say. My nurse said it was completely normal.

@spaniellove: I'd ask your doc! I got freaked because I rolled over in bed and had a sharp pain followed by numbness in my leg at 6 weeks pregnant. She said that with everything shifting around sometimes nerves just get pinched. Stayed that way my whole pregnancy and then just went away after delivery. Bodies are weird man.

Within a few hours after my c-section I think I had full feeling, although they said the effects could last up to a day. I'd wonder if you got a little nerve damage or a pinched nerve? I had a pinched nerve during pregnancy (from week 6 through delivery!) that left part of my thigh numb.
