DD was getting close to the height limit. We took a 2000 mile road trip when she was 4 months to move halfway across the country. We did that all with the infant seat, and it was quite comfortable for her I think! He sleeps fine in both but if he's not sleeping he is bored and gets mad. I switched him at 12 months - he was small, 18 lbs and 29 inches. I kind of think the bucket was better bc he would sometimes continue sleeping in the seat when we arrived at our destination - definitely the case at 4 months! The convertible is more upright so it might take your LO an adjustment period to get used to it. She's 7 months now and still fits comfortably in it. He does just fine in his car seat now (knock on wood), but the longest we've ever gone is 5 hours.</p> <p>I want to make sure he's comfortable. Should we switch to a convertible seat before we go?
