@cascademom: ohh gotcha! So true about breast milk having a longer expiration too. I forget about that!

@MrsBrewer: I'm not the one offering it. It's at daycare. I provide them with a 9 oz. bottle. Since it's breastmilk, it has a bit longer time expiration than the formula. He drinks it all. It's part of his 32 ounces of formula and milk that I send him there with each day.

@cascademom: that's so great! I beet it is a ton less stressful too! Hmm I guess I've never offered J more than 5 oz of breastmilk in one sitting....did your LO just seem to be really hungry still?

@MrsBrewer: Yeah, thereabouts. I fill one 9 ounce bottle and sometimes fill a smaller one up. Lately, I've been pumping 12 ounces or so. The 3 remaining ounces I freeze for later use. I'm freezing milk now that I'm working instead of when I was on maternity leave. J is growing great with the combo feeding of formula/breastmilk. Doing it this way has eliminated a lot of the stress I felt with my first.

I should add that I only work 2 full days and 1 half day a week, so other than that I just nurse. I haven't noticed a decrease in my supply either on the days I pump 2x per day at work

I dropped at 12 months, but I'm pump weaning. One pump a day gets me enough for one bottle. I'm using my freezer stash for the rest of his bottles.

Still doing 3x/day, LO is 8 months old. I hadn't really considered doing fewer than three pumps a day, though I guess I typically get enough milk from the first two pumps to feed her for the next day, so maybe I could drop the third. I've just been adding to my freezer stash whenever I'm ahead of her consumption.

Oh I'm so looking forward to dropping down to 1 pump session while at work! My LO is also 6 months and I pump 3x a day while at work, plus right before bed. My supply though is easily diminished, so if I don't keep up with the pumping I lose my supply real fast. So I think I'm going to have to stay at the current rate until 1 year, which is when I plan to switch her to WCM for her daytime feeds.

At 11 months (last week!). It is glorious.

ETA: Was able to do this (and drop my post-feed, pre-work morning session) because of my freezer stash. Now that I'm only feeding/pumping 3x a day on weekdays, my supply has gone WAY down.

Hey! DD is 6.5months old, EBF, and I'm still pumping 3-4x a day! I want to make sure she has enough milk, so I don't see myself stopping anytime soon if I'm able to do breastmilk until a year.

With DD I dropped to pumping once at work at around 10 months but I would pump once in the morning and once at night while at home. Now that she is almost a year I no longer pump at all, but still nurse her when I am at home. I have an ample milk stash so I am not worried about her not getting any bm. DD is my 2nd child and with my first my supply couldn't keep up with his needs so I dropped to pumping once a day earlier and supplemented with formula.

DD is 14 mos and I just cut back to once a day this week. I would love to be done pumping but she won't take any other type of milk so I feel stuck.

With LO #1, we waited until we weaned him off of breastmilk at 8 months old. I still did morning and night feedings, but after that, he was on formula until a year old.

With LO #2, I'm still pumping twice a day at 6 months old. I'm getting about 10-12 ounces a day. It's about a bottle's worth for him. The rest of his calories come from formula while he plays with solids.

At 11 months. At one year I'm working on not-pumping at all but depends on the day/how much LO nursed overnight. Sooo nice to not have to pump anymore (although I miss the breaks!)

How old was your LO when you dropped down to only pumping once at work? My LO is EBF and 6 months old. I still pump twice at work, but I can't wait until I can drop it down to once a day!
