I did swim lessons with LO1 no more than 2 months after LO2 was born. Definitely did not love being in a bathing suit then but otherwise it was fine. I think it's allowed when the bleeding stops.

My hospital told me 3 weeks of vaginal rest (uncomplicated vaginal delivery) which means no tampons, baths or pools. I wouldn't write off swimming while very pregnant though. I loved being in the water and escaping gravity! Even if you're not swimming laps, just being in the water feels wonderful!

Definitely not until the pp bleeding is done because you're not suppose to use tampons but after that I would think you're in the clear? This is an interesting question thought because I've never given it much thought.

At 7/8 weeks pp, I went to Mexico. I went in a pool, but no strenuous swimming was done.

No idea... but I'm nine weeks post partum from my second and have zero desire to ever wear a swimsuit ever again. :silly:

I think the recommendation is to wait 6 weeks? Even for baths? It might be a bit less than that with an uncomplicated vaginal delivery and no stitches, but I would plan for 6 weeks.

I'm due with LO2 in June. All the summer activities around here revolve around water: both pools and reservoirs. DH and I are starting to discuss memberships to some of these places over the summer. I know I won't have time or energy to swim (not to mention desire to get in a bathing suit) but I can't remember post partum restrictions and I'm trying to set expectations for what I will get from the memberships. I'm assuming the biggest benefit to me will be DH and DD getting out of the house.

When can you swim in a chlorinated pool? In a reservoir or the ocean?
