At 6 months with sleep training, life felt like it got into a groove again. I also started doing some work from home which helped to keep the house clean too.

I'm not as social as I was before, but getter better. Today, we did a mom's group thing at a pie shop. I'm working on my weight and finding more local mom friends for support than some of my previous friend groups.

I never felt terribly out of it, everything came really easily to me. I really got back into my personal groove after she'd been night weaned for a while, maybe 14 months.

I didn't feel normal until DS was 1! I think it was mostly because we weren't established. I went back to college after he turned one. With DD, I was back in a routine by the time she was 2 months. We also planned very carefully and had everything we needed with her (a house of our own, safe cars, DH had been at his job for 5 years and finally started to gain seniority). The biggest difference was when our first was born DH was making half of what he does now so we were stretched thin and stressed.

Besides those major factors, I think I've grown into the parenting role and the routine becomes natural/nornal. Now that I have two, I feel comfortable having 3!

Around 7.5-8 months I feel like we really hit our stride. That's when she started sleeping better at daycare so she wasn't a mess at night and I was also giving her dinner at night which kept her occupied and let me do some other things like wash bottles, prep dinner, pack lunches, etc.

It's amazing how much her sleep has to do with it. When she has at least one nap, I can get stuff done and feel accomplished. But when no one sleeps at night and her naps are awful and short? Newborn flashbacks. I'd say by 5-6 months I was settling in.

5.5 months was when his naps started consolidating and night sleep was way easier... So then I could actually get something done during the day and also have free time at night. No matter how cranky he is now its not as bad as when he was having to be rocked to sleep and napping for 30 minutes tops!

I feel like I'm still working on it. As soon as I get comfortable she switches things up on me or something else goes screwy.

Hmmm....maybe 6m? I have to admit, I carried the PP thing a little too long. I was very independent, but I did not get back to cooking or going out to social things until about 6m and I used the "I just had a baby" excuse.
But, you know...some days I get hit with fatigue and I feel like we're right back to square one. There will always be those days!

When did you feel like you hit your stride/were in a groove after LO was born?

I was just thinking this morning that I finally feel like we're in a groove, our routine is stable and life feels normal. LO is 8.5 months. Honestly I think that getting pregnant again at 4-5 months PP delayed this feeling a little because I had begun to feel like things were going well but the first tri with baby 2 knocked me back down. Right now I'm feeling great, I'm cooking consistently, LO has his own little personality and can be independent, his naps and bedtime are predictable, I have a really good cleaning routine going so that I feel like I'm accomplishing things and we joined a moms group and started going to a baby library storytime. I feel really happy with where we're at! I'm guessing I should enjoy it while I can before 3rd tri exhaustion and baby 2 hit!
