@sorrycharlie: I don't think it is a texture thing. Cause if she isn't eating dinner at all. If I spoon feed her dinner, I can sometimes sneak in veggies and then she eats them fine. R isn't a fan of chicken either.

@Smurfette: ugh I wish we had a guest room. I almost slept on the couch last night, but didn't wanna deal with going up and down the stairs every time LO woke up.

does R have a texture thing? maybe if you try some apple in a mesh feeder she can check it out? O refused meat until I cut baked chicken up into bites the size of baked beans and mixed it in. she thought they were all beans and ate it all, like magic, she started eating chicken. I'm so mean..lol.

@MsLipGloss: I agree! I just ordered some sippy cups cause her teacher said that she isn't drinking much at all but tries to steal other kids cups. Worth a shot! Girlfriend is going to make me grey with worry about her not drinking enough.
@sorrycharlie: I made DH go sleep in the guest room Sat night. He was so congested and kept waking me up. I will try cutting them up more too. But peas are pretty small already and she will pick one up, put in her mouth, and then spit it out.

@Smurfette: I meant to add to my comment yesterday (sooo exhausted, damn DH"s snoring lately) that when we first started, I cut her up pieces that were pea-sized. so even though it seemed extreme, and super tiny, she learned to chew them up quickly! I only gave her a couple pieces at a time because she hoards food in her mouth. lol.

@MsLipGloss: Oh I know! She would eat grapes and blueberries for a snack but not for us at home. Now that she is the toddler room, they provide snacks. I just thought that if she likes them, I will definitely try at home.

@Smurfette: I don't want to burst any bubble of expectation here . . . but I will say that in my experience, what my LO eats for her teachers is not what she will eat at home. At school, she usually eats a few peas or one or two green beans--nada at home--and also eats things like pasta that she also won't eat for me. Not to be all doom and gloom - some things have carried over, like her love of cheese slices/string cheese and raisin bread with cream cheese!

Probably around 10 or 11 months. He was just pushing the pieces around his mouth and sucking on them so I help off for a bit and he's doing better with them now at almost 15 months because he just cut some molars. Don't rush it if you're not sure if she is ready!

Probably about 9-10 months, I started giving her thin, peeled slices. She loved teething on them. ~ 10-11 months she started wanting to chew on my bigger pieces and I started by holding them for her and watching.

Wow, I'm surprised so many LO's do well with them so early. E, at 15 months, choked almost every time she had apples. It wasn't until 20 months that she handled them okay (with 12 teeth).

Instead, I bought dehydrated apples for snacking which she ate from 12 months and up.

My LO had trouble with apples until recently. She gagged a bit even with 8 teeth. She is doing fine now though at 15 mo with 10+ teeth (2 are on their way in)...usually I give her fairly thin slices with no skin, but she will also come take bits off my apple and does fine now.

I used to nanny and would peel a whole apple and give it to my little 10 month old. She loved it and you really can't bite too big of a slice if you're watching them. I gave her Fujis or Galas (any of the softer or sweet varieties) and she would go to town. Make sure she's somewhere where she can't dribble everywhere though!
