I now have my husband give him a bottle of pumped milk at night of when I need a break or to top off a feeding (again tobget his weight up). She had a bottle of formula within an hour after she was born because she had low blood sugar. after that we keep feeding her formula but also let her nurse for 15 minutes before she got the bottle. I've heard way more stories of babies refusing bottles if you wait too long than stories of babies refusing the breast b/c of introducing the bottle too early. My baby has been breast and bottle fed at every feeding since she was 3 days old, and she's fine. At home we gave her a different type of bottle with a wide nipple and I actually think that helped her learn how to open her mouth wide to latch on. No nipple confusion here.
