I haven't left LO overnight yet, and he'll be 1 year old next week. (That said, I have missed maybe 5-6 bedtimes, getting back late from work.)

DW has missed a few overnights due to out-of-state and overseas work trips, but we've tried to Skype when the technology or time difference allows. It's always billed as "Boys' Nights" when she's away, but DS isn't quite at the watching-soccer-all-night-and-sharing-pizza level yet.

Yet.

We just did in August at 16 months. Then I left him for 2 nights (once with MIL, once with husband) for a music festival in September. It was hard the first time, but the second wasnt too bad. You'll do fine!

We haven't yet, but she's only 9 weeks old. I don't imagine that we'll leave her overnight until she breastfeeds less often. I'd have to pump like crazy to make enough extra bottles for an extended time away.

I left LO with my in-law's for the first time right before he turned 2. We dropped him off on Friday afternoon and came back on Sunday morning. He regressed a lot, and it was so sad to come back to a different kid. It took about a week for him to return back to normal.

Since then he stayed with my sisters for a week while DH and I went on our babymoon. LO was 26 months old and did really well. FIL takes him overnight once a week when possible, and it has helped LO gain trust in staying with others.

We are leaving DD for the first time next weekend when she's 16 weeks old to go to a wedding. I really don't want to leave her but trust my parents completely. I'd rather let DH go to the wedding alone though.

22 months for 3 days and 2 nights. She was super attached to me before we left so I was so nervous, but my mom stayed with her at our place which made it easier for her. Also, my husband travels for work so she understands that he goes away for work and comes back. So I told her I had to go to work with Dada and I would be back in a few days.

She did awesome and way better than I expected. I thought for sure she would be more clingy and attached when I got back but she's more independent...it's like she realized the world doesn't end when I'm not around. It was so good for her and I'm glad we did it...I missed her like crazy by the third day, but I was soooo relaxed that first and second day away from her :)

i went out of town overnight for the first time when LO was 6 months old. however DH was home with him. then around 8 months, LO spent the night at his grandparents without us, BUT i did bedtime routine and then left. either DH or i have been there for every bedtime, so we haven't "really" left LO overnight--he's almost 9 months now.

I was just wondering about this. LO is 4 months and I am considering going to a conference for work when she is 6 months. It would probably be two nights away. Not sure whether I am ready. She slept in a different room for the first time ever over the weekend. I was anxious enough about that. :)

@Koolbreeze: Hah! I am showing this to my husband. Our oldest was 5 her first time (and I was in labor with Lorelei) but she wanted to (it was with his parents) and she had a great time. She has done it on occasion since. I don't plan to have Lorelei do an overnight until she is old enough to ask for one and wants to. My husband thinks I'm a little nuts.

18 months...I decided to do some volunteer work with my church and had to get up early on a Saturday morning to do it, so my parents took DS for the weekend...2 nights. He did great. He already loved my parents, so he wasn't nervous a bit. A few weeks later he and I moved in with them for the next 2 years...it was an easy transition for him.
