Now we are at 6 months and I can't even picture it! My parents would take fantastic care of him, but I jealously guard my bedtime routine/morning wake-up snuggle time with him. I was gone less than 24 hrs and he stayed with DH. We left him overnight with our nanny when he was 16.5 months and it was for fun. I was gone almost exactly 24 hrs. He did great both times. I am hoping to make it to a year since that is also my goal for breast feeding. Being away overnight and pumping sounds really annoying and stressful. But it's likely that I will have to travel for work before then. At the very least I want to make it to six months, and I am confident that my job will be supportive of that. Even then he's hit and miss with taking a bottle so I stress when I'm away from him. Then when she was about 9 months old, I spent a night away for work and she stayed home with DH. That's it! My daughter is only 4 1/2 months now and the closest thing I've had to a "night away" was going out with my DH or sleeping in a different room a few nights while MIL or mom watched Lettie: but she was either in the same building or very close by and I saw her before her bedtime and then again early in the morning! But for my graduate school we're required to do a 2-week international trip in order to get our Master's degree, so mine will likely fall next summer when she's almost a year and a half old. I don't remember how old LO was but it was probably around 3/4 months! He's gone once a month to my moms since then. They love it, he loves it, I get to sleep in. Win win! DH had won a travel voucher through work, so we went to Jamaica for 4 days. It was absolutely worth it, I ended up getting pregnant on the trip :) DD is 10 months old and I haven't yet. She's a crappy night sleeper and no one wants her haha and it's hard to find anyone that will take 2 crappy night sleepers. I have a wedding in October, and I'm staying the night before in a hotel with the bride...if not before then, then I will. (Also, starting around age 2 my parents would take him for sleepovers a couple times a month, so now being away from him occasionally is totally the norm. My parents might take him on vacation to Disney World by themselves in September!) DS2 is almost 8 months old and we're leaving him (also with my parents, and his older brother) for 2 nights in mid July when he'll be 9 months old. He doesn't sleep through the night but my mom is ok with a night waking or two. I'm not worried. Trip with DH! She was STTN so we felt comfortable leaving her with my parents. LO 2 was 1! Personal time trip with friends! Both were EBF but they drank pumped milk while I was gone. Honestly, I think it's great for them (and my MIL), us as a couple and for M to get to spend quality time with her grandparents without us around. I'd say she sleeps over at either of their homes maybe once a month.
