I brought piddle pads I still had left over from the hospital to put under his butt in the carseat, but he held it fine. We just prompted A LOT! That first weekend I tried not to go on super long outings just to be safe. Do you just carry change of clothes, wipes, and a plastic bag for the panties? Or do you just toss them? At first I was a bit nervous about being out in the car so I'd bring a bag with a towel, wipes, change of clothes etc. but he never had an accident and was fine with public toilets. I think my son isn't really the norm though. Luckily he has no problem peeing in public bathroom (he loves them...) so it's been less scary to be out.
